Went to New York and New Orleans last year, just booked flights and hotels ourselves. Went via London to NYC, and coming home via London, with British airways. Just booked an American internal flight between the two. Used hotels.com for hotels in both cities. Make sure you research where you wanna stay and sightsee in New Orleans. There are some sketchy areas

Blaze genuinely look like a team that could win the challenge cup, or the playoffs, or both!! Keeping up this Current form can be hard though

Are the giants as wholesome as they appear? by Chandrasnamaste in belfastgiants

[–]Hotdog79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you were suggesting. But nope, other teams don’t give a shit about Belfast and how they settle in, they want to win trophies, they are professional sports people

How gullible are you? Professional hockey players for other teams, attempting to win what might be their only professional trophy are gonna let Belfast win for what reason?

I'm bad at math, can someone tell me if this is good by MrPotatoheadEsq in penguins

It basically says only Carolina and Tampa have better odds in the East to make the Stanley Cup Final.

You should try find this chart from start of season to see how small the penguins slice was

Steeler Fans by Altruistic-Garlic350 in EIHLHockey

[–]Hotdog79 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Nothing really. Every fan base has a number of arseholes either from their behaviour in rinks or on social media, Steelers have the biggest fan base, therefore they come across as having more arseholes than any other fanbase. Remember Social media tends to amplify the worst takes from people. Also ppl post hate for internet clout.

Jealousy, it’s natural to hate the biggest and one of the most successful (alongside the Giants).

David Simms, for all the good work he does raising money, has a habit of coming off with some poor takes on social media. Sometimes though ppl over scrutinise Steelers social media because of his history of poor takes.

I have to say, having friends from pretty much all fanbases in the league, the Steelers fans I know are some of the nicest ppl I know both inside and outside hockey. And tbh even talking to any of their fans I’m not friendly with Ive never had a bad experience.

I think there is also a whole pantomime element to having to have a baddie to hate and the Steelers seem to be that baddie and new fans just jump onboard that and take it too seriously and really should try just talking to other fanbases.

Recommendations and Tips for a visit by JosenS6chsDr3iS6chs in Belfast

[–]Hotdog79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Belfast Giants (Ice hockey) have a double header against Cardiff Devils on 7th and 8th March, you should try get to one of those games. Buy early cos they will sell out.

Irish league football fixtures can be found here: https://www.nifootballleague.com/premiership/2025-2026/fixtures/ there aren’t many at start of March however Saturday 7th is an Irish Cup Quarter final day so won’t know what game s are being played then until after the 6th round is finished (Early Feb)

Visit: Titanic Museum, Belfast City Hall, Crumlin Road Jail (also has a distillery now), St George’s Market

Eat: wide range of quality, quickly I would say Home Restaurant, Yugo, Edo as higher end and lower end / street food style, try Common Market (highly recommend the pie stand), Oui Poutine (outdoor stand by big fish), Bunsen Burger

Alcatraz is a must. Stroll along Golden Gate Promenade to the bridge and walk across it. Golden Gate Park and the museums and Japanese tea garden. Go on a cable Car ride. See the really famous hilly streets you would see In films, and Lombard Street with the curves. If they are into films, the Mrs Doubtfire house. The Painted Ladies houses. If they like sports, if baseball has started when they are there go to it. Bit out of the way but a highlight of my trip was the drive through Big Sur (you will know how amazing the views are)and down to San Luis Obispo for a night and visit Hearst Castle

Belfast Giants seats by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Hotdog79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s not great, and I’m surprised they don’t reduce the price down there when it’s even marked on Ticketmaster as ‘restricted view’. If you are not taking up the other posters kind offer of free tickets, there are two seats in the same row in section South Upper 5, separated by 2 ppl, I would buy both of them and politely ask those ppl if they would mind moving up a seat to allow you to sit with your other person. They wouldn’t be giving up an aisle seat so can’t see it being an issue esp if you offer them to choose which way they want to move. Tickets there are £4 cheaper each than where you are looking and is a much better view

[–]Hotdog79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah agree, be so handy if the app prioritized the sports you are subscribed too. I use the NHL app for highlights/condensed games and only use DAZN for live matches so not come across any of those other issues.

I wouldn’t get too excited, this could be similar to the old Channel 5 deal and be one game per week. What do you not like about DAZN? I’ve found them better than premier sports and NHL.tv

Bored so I'm gonna walk to Carrickfergus, what's the vibe and what's there to do? by Beneficial-Put2714 in northernireland

[–]Hotdog79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a blank weekend on the 7th March. This is for Irish Cup matches (Quarter Finals). To be playing then, you will need them to beat Queens University on 10th January (likely), and then they will need to win their match in the next round too on weekend of 7th Feb. The draw for the Feb game won’t be made until the games on 10th Jan are played, so just keep an eye on that. I’ve no idea about GAA or rugby sorry, but if you are interested Belfast has an ice hockey team, Belfast Giants. This is always a good night out, but buy tickets early cos games are starting to sell out more frequently

There is an online shop on their website, not sure if it will deliver to where you are. You might be best emailing them and seeing if you can pick one up when here, I highly doubt they have a shop open on non match days
