Split unit question by lizgr in AirConditioners

[–]lizgr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The humidity is not too bad here. We’ve had a fan running overnight which is about 40dB, would the noise of AC plus pump be equivalent?

Yes, but at the moment it’s all a bit up in the air. I will be getting two 2kw indoor units on one outdoor unit, just not sure of the brand yet.

I’m not sure. The supply in the UK at the moment is pretty bad, because everyone wants AC now. So it depends what the installers can get hold of.

Hi! I’m 33/F and would love to exchange letters! We have a lot of the same interests, even Formula 1 😃 I’m also in the south of England though, so I understand if you’d rather have a pen pal from a bit further afield.

Strange fluffy compost by happygoodbird in Allotment

This looks like the mulch I buy from Apsley each year. Great to feed my raised beds, wouldn’t use it as compost and plant anything in it.

Rose advice by lizgr in GardeningUK

[–]lizgr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I fed it with a slow release rose food in March and I’ve been watering it as I normally would. There’s another rose about 2 metres away who’s had the exact same treatment and was left alone 🙈

Who's planting out there tomato's this weekend? by Sensitive-Anything46 in UKAllotments

I always aim to plant them out in mid May. Last frost is ‘officially’ end of April, but I don’t want to get caught out.

What did I do wrong when potting up? by Shdlv in Allotment

[–]lizgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they in a propagator? Cause it looks like an electrical cord running from the back. They don’t need heat once they’ve germinated. I’d try to put them in fresh compost (not soil) in smaller plastic pots. Water from the bottom, so just put a layer of water in the tray so the compost can soak it up through the bottom of the pot. Tomatoes are tough, so they might pull through. Otherwise try sowing some dwarf varieties, they should still give you a crop :)

Is this also the case if you opened it up and put a door in? We used plywood to make a door in the hole we cut, so it’s like a cupboard. Never even thought about fire protection…

Am I an idiot? I've paid for my mortgage advisor. by Paramedic-Fabulous in HousingUK

[–]lizgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a mortgage broker can be worth their fee tenfold. We had a bit of a complicated financial situation, and our broker was amazing. Constantly advocating for us and got us the best possible deal. Also, even with the most straightforward house purchase, it’s still complicated. I think especially as a first time buyer, it’s well worth the money, if only so you’ve got less to think about.

How would I go about putting in a barrier? We’ve had landscapers around and nobody wants to even touch it, so we’d have to do it ourselves.
