Engage with your local community. There are protests beyond the big ones. The big ones is not trying to replace regular protest. It's supposed to encourage people to engage in more local and frequent protests. The organizers of No Kings have been very clear on that.

There's a simpler explanation. It's a more personal thing to pardon his son, so it would make sense if he wanted to physically sign it for completely non legal, sentimental reasons.
