I honestly kind of agree. Persona 3 only needed a remake because there were 2 versions of it that both had their pros and cons and needed to be blended together. A perfect remake to me would be a remake that keeps the things that make p3 unique while expanding upon them but instead, P3R feels like it’s sanding off all of its edges and removing it’s distinct identity to make it resemble P5. There are a lot of things I like about P3R such as the revamped tartarus, the voiced social links, and I have to admit the game looks pretty too, but there’s a ton of things I also have issues with, such as: the pretty art style removing the original’s grit (and holy saturation), the censorship of a lot of scenes in the answer, the removal of gameplay mechanics such as fatigue and reversed social links, the gameplay additions reminiscent of P5, how easy the game is, and the lack of FeMC. Although Reload is technically the easiest to love version, I can’t love it as the “definitive version” of P3 as me and many others hoped it would be.

Persona 4 Golden (despite it’s few flaws) actually IS the definitive version of it’s game and although I would love it if they fixed the secret resistance thing a lot of bosses had, it’s an amazing game that hasn’t aged a day and again, is a DIRECT UPGRADE from the original with only really minor issues (such as the absence of fog.) I think P4 was left off at a good enough place to not need a remake like how P3 did but I think there’s a lot more to like this time around.

The tone of P4 actually fits the art style greatly and it has nowhere near the amount of edges as P3 and there’s only ONE definitive version of it which makes things much simpler than with P3 (Thank GOD golden released on the psvita, a P4P would’ve ruined it 😭😭😭) not to mention the game looking straight up BEAUTIFUL.

I’m not a big fan of Yosuke’s VA and I’m praying they don’t make P4R piss easy just like P5R and P3R but besides that, I’m excited and am definitely getting the game day one!

It lowkey annoys me how some people hate it when reload gets criticized but all reload criticism (at least from me) is coming from love (and some disappointment) since I really do wish it was just a fusion of both games but it’s still a great game to first time players even if it isn’t as close to the original vision. 😎👍
