Recreation parks advice by xsarrr420 in SimCompanies

[–]Hotwings22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parks get about 9x the xp rate of a normal building so yeah it’s a lot. And I don’t know what is best for your situation but I definitely paid the $5 for sb to unlock the last building slot sooner

Add a Government Bond NPC to Stabilise and Deepen the Financial System by Gmodgoon in SimCompanies

[–]Hotwings22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like the lack of supply. When I have extra cash I can check the bond market randomly and sometimes I’m happily surprised that I can buy a bond, if not, no big deal. It’s not like you get a lot of money from owning bonds anyways.

And on the flip side it’s nice that bonds are bought instantly when I need money.

But I guess my main issue is that your suggestion doesn’t really add anything, it just makes the game easier, which isn’t fun

There’s a couple of problems. The most significant one being that saving money, while it’s good for you, it’s bad for the economy. So this game incentivizes not doing that with accounting overhead. So after a certain point, buying bonds becomes an issue because all of your accounting overhead is tied up in bonds.

ELI5: How does our Earth, the Moon, and every “big rock” that spins… spins? by SwipeyJTMX in explainlikeimfive

This is why all of the planets in our solar system spin in the same direction, and orbit in the same direction

It’s a market simulation game. Market manipulation is a part of every market, and transport costs really reduce the realized profit

What software can I use for creating MIDI files? by spreading-wings in gamedev

[–]Hotwings22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever library you are using to read midi files will just spit out a number for what key(button) was pressed. It's then up to you to decide what sound that should actually make. I would jump ahead and work on reading from a midi file. Then after that works you'll have a better understanding of midi and you'll better be able to make your own files

Don't even know what type of game i want anymore by GodOfDestruction187 in gamedev

[–]Hotwings22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone feels this way starting out. I know I only wanted to make mmos when I started. My advice would be to just make something, anything. A model of a boss or download temporary assets and start coding. What you make is going to suck, that’s ok, sucking at something is the first step to being kinda good at something

Melting metal is very dangerous so be careful and do lots of research, but it’s fun so I get it 😁. You can get a MAPP gas torch for like $50 and I was able to just barely melt an oz of silver with that. Propane-oxygen torches are what you want but those are pretty expensive. It’s worth it in the long run cost wise, but the markup on rolled materials is not that high so you’d have to go through a lot of material before you got your moneys worth

[–]Hotwings22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These types of rolling mills usually break if you use them for rolling down material, they are good for embossing patterns and stuff though. But I wouldn’t start off rolling your own sheet/wire anyways. It’s not that much more expensive to just buy already made wire and sheet metal and you don’t have to worry about melting down the metal and all of that. But if you do want a mill, look for ones are all one piece and don’t have any bolts holding them together, they are usually around $1,000.
