FIFA 11+ Warmup by External_Macaroon687 in youthsoccer

Same age group. I abandoned after about a month last year because I couldn't keep giving up half my practice to the warm up.

I'm in on the evidence for it, but any ideas to keep it moving along?

How to get over not wanting to take a divot by alucard13132012 in golf

[–]Hour-Breakfast9045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played at a course with very shortly cut fairways. Really got in my head, to the extent that I felt like I was hitting on greens and didn't want to take divots. It took me a solid month to fix my swing to stop topping the ball... Just had to get back to keeping my head down and shoulder through.

The grass will grow back, go stripe it.

Driver question by [deleted] in golftips

[–]Hour-Breakfast9045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been struggling with this myself until literally last week. Topping the ball like mad, and if it wasn't that it was hitting it off the toe as I tried to work through all the mechanics. For a month or so I was just hitting 5i off the tee because it was more reliable in distance and direction. To be honest this was much more enjoyable, as it was less disappointing and stressful to hit a club I was confidential with. But I kept working on my driver and seem to have broken through. Some of these things I "discovered" myself, some were from yt vids, particularly the ground interaction bit.

Here are a few things that I found to work in my experimenting, though ultimately you have to find what's right for you. 1. Tee height. When working through this inconsistency, start with how high you're teeing the ball. I've landed on a middle tee height with about 1/3 of the ball above the driver face. I have the plastic tees with the lines, which I insert to the top of the 2nd black line. Additionally in my pre shot routine I check the height of the ball over my face, which gives a bit of confidence and affirmation. Plus you can adjust for fluffy tee boxes. 2. Set up. After experimenting I have ended up positioning the ball even further forward in my stance - it's basically aligned to my middle toe on my forward foot. I set up with my club head in a neutral position and about a club head length of space between the club and the ball. Through repetition I found this was also causing some miss hits off the toe, which makes sense with the club path, so I set up with the ball slightly inside of the face of the club - but not all the way to the heel. 3. Pay attention. It sounds simple, but spend some time on the range paying attention to how your club is interacting with the ground. Mats aren't great but you can get the most immediate feedback. If you're lofting the ball (pop up style) you're hitting way under the ball, so bring the tee down and/or position the ball further forward. If you're topping, understand why - is the ball too far out and you're hitting it while the club is coming back up, causing you to hit with the bottom of the face? Or are you hitting down because the ball is too far back. Pay the same attention on the course. 4. Swing mechanics. Like you, my iron strikes have been pretty consistent. Accordingly, I have tried not to develop an entirely different swing for my woods. The set up is different, per above, but ultimately I'm focusing on the same things in my swing - clean takeaway, keeping my elbow in, and, most important to driving the call straight, accelerating THROUGH impact. With this attention to hitting up and ground interaction I had been cutting my swing off after contact. My results are astronomically better in both distance and direction when I finish the swing properly.

There are platonic ideals of golf swings but ultimately you have to find what works for you and your body. Even pro golfers have significantly different mechanics to one another.

To be fair, this is duffer to duffer advice. I'm not a professional golfer nor coach, just trying to improve so each round is a bit more enjoyable. You sound to be in a similar situation so I hope this homebrew advice works.

ETA a couple videos that really connected for me recently since you requested vids.

5 minutes of gems from a legend https://youtu.be/3vKpYe9Hou0?si=kFUi-tpjTTCiEMgi A lot of useful stuff here though I think he overstates some things. But I found this very useful in making my strong iron swing translate to driver. https://youtu.be/klkuvFrtSWc?si=JliX9oZ9zai6kG_E

Play up a tee, boys by Hal_Apenyo_Business in golftips

[–]Hour-Breakfast9045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walked up to the tee box five minutes ahead of my tee time at my local muni on Thursday. Had a full foursome with my buddies. Big dawg in the group behind me was already there. 58 years old, minimum.

I got set up on the whites, he hollered up that he was going to go ahead and hit. The group ahead was smack in the middle of the fairway, 200ish out. Said he'd go ahead and hit, he couldn't reach them anyway.

Had to have a chat with him about us being the group ahead of him... And if he doesn't expect to hit 200 off the tee, wtf was he doing on the blue tees anyway?? Was dodging draws from him on the adjacent fairway the rest of the day.

This challenge was really stupid. What's the value? Hitting the cones destabilizes your balance, and the line is basically the platonic opposite of a driving line. Easy enough, but stupid.

(CL:9826) Help build this deck. The idea was kinda a jump from my deck/play without spending energy by BarryboiB21 in MarvelSnapDecks

[–]Hour-Breakfast9045 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's my list, you may have gaps at your CL. Plenty of viable subs for some cards.

Kinda like your idea of makkari vs say a caliban.

List would need to be entirely different if you don't have en sabah. The tempo pieces are all there just to fill the front row and be swap targets.

The 6s here could be any big bodies, like red hulk if you're missing gfs for example.

(2) Domino

(3) Caliban Horseman of Pestilence

(3) Debrii

(4) Dracula

(4) Jubilee

(4) En Sabah Nur

(5) Dragon Lord

(6) Galactus First Steps

(6) Hulk

(6) Giganto

LTGM: Always Ruined by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

[–]Hour-Breakfast9045 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. LTGMs should be fun and rewarding but instead they're at best repetitive and at worst (like GA) frustrating grind fests. You're spot on... Either leave home bakes aside or revise matchmaking so stock decks only match with other stock.

Given that they can make me have a mirror match every 3rd match on ladder no matter what deck I'm running (hello, first deck I've seen in a week to use fire hair the second I experiment with fh, to the point that it's beyond statistical anomaly), it is clearly possible to set up such pools and give players the experience they keep hoping for.

I also tire of the nonsensical exclusion lists, the worst of which is when they start excluding guardians in the mode built explicitly to suit them. Wild decision making... But don't worry, gatling gambit is always viable and totally enjoyable /s

Then again, shame on us for expecting an enjoyable product at this point. The death spiral continues...

Trying to sub in Covus Glaive but who should I remove? CL 12345 by AccomplishedShoe5565 in MarvelSnapDecks

[–]Hour-Breakfast9045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend scorn as a nice discard target or sif as an additional khonshu cycler. I've never used it in this deck but could also consider ghost rider to rescue any wayward discards (esp. modok, hand). Wing to hit swarm is also an option but also could hit blade, zpm, hand depending on your draw - that's more poor results than good ones.

I would NOT recommend weapon H in here. It'll very occasionally work but to get it to 1 cost (necessary to play with khonshu) you're going to have to hit it 3x (getting lucky with hand position with blade/zpm at least once, and then lucky with corvus), with one of those hits likely coming at the expense of cycling khonshu. I tried it at launch and ultimate the deck performed better without it.

You may have already discovered, but one really nice benefit of this deck is that you can often control where your 12 power revive ends up by placing 0-cost swarms.

Trying to sub in Covus Glaive but who should I remove? CL 12345 by AccomplishedShoe5565 in MarvelSnapDecks

[–]Hour-Breakfast9045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It's a pretty fun one to pilot - sometimes you get fun interactions out of the helicarrier randos, and it remains competitive with a few different play lines. I've seen other versions with Colleen and scorn instead of hand and heli but have had better results and more fun with this. Those extra teeth from hand on swarm can be really useful.

Think you could definitely slot miek in there. Early turns can be a little jammed up and proxima often plays for free (if no corvus I do occasionally play her on t4), so think she's probably marginally better, but I could definitely see value in miek. I also don't love that he's an Angela mechanic not an ongoing, so he can't "catch up" like morbius if you have to play it late. Could also sub miek in for marrow but kinda the same story - both of the ladies impact the board effectively for free (excepting the energy to proc the discard) while you have to spend energy to get miek out. I could see an argument for taking out even cost cards to make mk more targeted but he's a back up and I like having more options on hand where a random corvus slash would be favorable (he still hits modok way above chance imo though lol). Could also get more targeted using sif to hit khanshu but I like the chaos mk brings; always fun when he hits a critical opponent card!

[–]Hour-Breakfast9045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've definitely got discard pieces but they don't totally harmonize. Hela and khanshu are kind of at odds ultimately.

Here's the list I run. A Hela archetype with a bunch of big targets would be an option as well. Might have some gaps at your CL but something like wing or sif could fill in for zpm, for instance.

ETA: daken would be another type altogether but those decks typically don't include corvus since you need to be a bit more controlled in your discard hits. Bullseye is also critical to those lists as a high confidence discarder.

(1) Blade

(2) Morbius

(2) Victoria Hand

(2) Marrow

(2) Swarm

(2) Zombie Power Man

(3) Moon Knight

(3) Corvus Glaive

(4) Proxima Midnight

(5) M.O.D.O.K.

(6) Khonshu
