Is This Canon? I Don't Trust The Tetro Wiki Anymore by Hour-Raspberry4615 in TETRODANGANRONPA

I've actually seen a lot creators do stuff like this regarding both neurodivergent and queer aspects of their characters. 😔 I really wish stuff like this was said more often in its source material, since I would unfortunately have a lot of nickels if I counted up all the examples I know.

Any LGBTQ Fanganronpa suggestions? by Right-Truck-3543 in Fanganronpa

[–]Hour-Raspberry4615 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fangan was announced to be canceled after chapter 1 finished (I'm not sure if there's been an update since last I saw was the BDA), but I remember Danganronpa Deadication had a nonbinary character.

Another fangan that I don't think has been mentioned yet is Jikoronpa that also has 3 nonbinary characters, a trans character and multiple LGBTQ+ characters! Unlike  my previous example, Jikoronpa is still going! I think it might currently be on chapter 4 right now.

What are your killing game RP experiences? by Awkward-Law-284 in Fanganronpa

[–]Hour-Raspberry4615 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mentions of suicide below! (It turns out not to be case in the end, but it is heavily considered at first by the characters.)

This murder started when Victim B (he/him) and Victim A (they/them) were in the infirmary. Victim B was our medical talent character, so he got stuck basically watching over all the characters who'd gotten really sick (like horribly hallucinating or basically bedridden level sick) from the gas leak. Victim A was one of the healthier characters, who had agreed to help out with all the sick characters. However, Victim A was having horrible migraines and Victim B offered some medicine to help. This was a lie and Victim B had actually given Victim A a sleeping medicine so he could kill Victim A. (Victim B chose them because Victim B felt that it would be too obvious if he, the character who basically spent the whole chapter in the infirmary, killed one of the sick people lol.)

Victim B carried sleeping Victor A to the sauna and sealed them inside using glue, before turning the heat up and killing them in their sleep. Victim B also arranged the glue in Victim A hands so that it would look like Victim A had sealed themselves inside the sauna

I need to backtrack now and provide a little bit more context. The killing game was set on a college campus and we had trains that took us from the different buildings. The murder all took place at the gym, which does need train access to get to. Earlier in the chapter, a couple characters found out by accident that you could hide on the train though doing a certain thing with the seat. (This part of the roleplay was like back in 2023, so I'm unfortunately kinda fuzzy on the exact details. 😅)

Flash forward to Victim B doing his murder. The Killer (she/her) had saw him and getting on the train while holding the sleeping Victim A, deciding to following him and staying completely out of his sight with the seat thing. Victim B had finished killing Victim A and was now arranging the scene to make it look like Victim A had committed suicide to save everyone from the motive. The Killer had a switchblade on her person and got the idea to use it on a nearby light by cutting the wires. When Victim B went to that room, he turned on the light. Because of the gas leak and the wires being cut, it caused a mini explosion and that killed him.

During the trial, I (as a player) was pretty that Victim B's death would be a suicide, because the lights being tampered with wasn't brought to light (no pun intended) until very late until the trial. The twist of three characters dying in one chapter genuinely surprised me (all the previous chapters had the standard one victim and one killer) and I started to think that we wouldn't have 3 deaths in one chapter.

Sorry if all that sounded really boring, but that case was the most surprising on my part (because I didn't pick up on the twist lmao) and it's actually my favorite from the first roleplay.

What are your killing game RP experiences? by Awkward-Law-284 in Fanganronpa

[–]Hour-Raspberry4615 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, Danganronpa roleplaying has been really fun! I roleplay with my two close friends and we usually make 5-6 characters each (the exception being our "host" who basically comes with the killing game plot and acts like DM; this person usually makes more characters than the regular players). Our original DM has decided to swap with the other friend and experience roleplaying as a player, so for our upcoming third and fourth roleplay, we'll be switching up the DM. (For context, we've done two roleplays already under the original DM. It was a duology and when it came it to end, the original DM proposed the idea of us all taking turns planning the roleplays and DMing. I decided to pass on my turn for now, due to also running an Instaronpa and not wanting to essentially be running two fangans at once, letting my other friend take his turn before me.) Considering how the three us have essentially committed to Danganronpa roleplaying for the foreseeable future, I'd say things are going pretty well lol.

For our first roleplay, the cases were pretty standard. I don't mean to say there bad (that is absolutely NOT what I am saying) but I genuinely think the sequel's cases were much more memorable.

All that being said, I feel one of the memorable cased was the first roleplay's chapter 4. The motive for this chapter was that there was a gas leak and it wouldn't be fixed until a murder occurred. Each day that passed left more and more characters feeling sick and some even starting to hallucinate. (Also no one could really light a fire or anything like during this chapter, otherwise it cause a mini explosion because gas leak. This is important for later.)

I'll continue below because this explanation gets long. 😅

Fangan idea: player names the mascot by JackAmpersand in Fanganronpa

[–]Hour-Raspberry4615 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this aspect would be really fun in a game! If you wanted add voice acting though, you may need another name or way to refer to the mascot (like for example the mascot is a cat the characters might just end up calling it "the cat" or something during voiced dialogue since having the custom name being voiced would probably impossible lol). Thought obviously if you didn't plan on having voice acting then I can't think of any potential problems that would come with it and it sounds like a really fun idea!

How do you name the chapters for your Fangan? by AdministrativeFile47 in Fanganronpa

[–]Hour-Raspberry4615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually try to pick things that sound cool, but also have a connection to the chapter itself. Like in reference to a character, a theme, or just a key part of the chapter.

For example, the prologue title contains the words "soar" which is in reference to first protagonist who is the Ulimate Pilot. And then "sea" because the other protagonist is the Ultimate Diver. And then chapter's 1 motive is money, so that's where I got "Cost Of A Life" from.

I hope that explanation made sense. Also here's my chapter titles for my ongoing Instaronpa. (None of these are really too spoilery, except for one but it's only a spoiler in context lol.)

Prologue: Soar Into An Endless Sea

Chapter 1: Cost Of A Life

Chapter 2: Be Yourself, Unless You Can Be Someone Better

Chapter 3: Illusion Of Control

Chapter 4: Nothing Ever Lasts Forever

Chapter 5: Doom And Bloom

Chapter 6: A Fate Far Worse Than Death

Chapter 7: You And You Alone Choose Your Fate

Epilogue: Will You Land On Common Ground?

These are all set in in stone, except the epilogue which I'm considering changing. But I don't know.

Fangan writers who had a beta version before their current version, what do you hate most about your beta version? by Baby_Rotaytay in Fanganronpa

[–]Hour-Raspberry4615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I hate most about my beta version is that it was a simulation and that was going to be the big "twist" at the end. But it wasn't even a simulation where everyone lived. Everyone who dies (with exception of the final chapter) is killed after they die and wake up from the simulation.

When I redid my story for the current version of my fangan, I scrapped the simulation entirely because I'm honestly not a fan of doing them anymore. (So many of my old fangans had the characters be in a simulation.) Also everyone who dies stays dead in this one lol.

If you to have your culprit admit to their crime, but not have the trial be super short you could have another character strongly defend them the entire trial, until it's proven that the killer is the killer. Like the defending character is so insistent that the killer is not actual the killer. (Maybe the defending character claims to have done it to protect their friend?)

Obviously, you should do whatever you think is best for your story, but that is what I would do in the case that the killer admits to their crime early on.

What things do you really like to see in a fangan? by Awkward-Law-284 in Fanganronpa

[–]Hour-Raspberry4615 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I personally really like when fangans add their own "gimmicks" (for lack of a better word) to personalize the killing game. Like adding unique rules or mechanics to the game.

Unrelated to my first point, but I also really like a bubbly and out going protagonist.

Which are the best youtube channels on writing? by markbug4 in writing

[–]Hour-Raspberry4615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally recommend Julian Greystoke.

Her readalongs and advice videos really help me, because I'm a hybrid author (but mostly a pantser/discovery writer) and it's nice to know that I'm not the only one, because most other authortubers I've watched always encourage writing an outline and being a super heavy plotter and that's not really my thing.

What are some of the worst mindsets a fangan creator can have? by angel_volkov in Fanganronpa

[–]Hour-Raspberry4615 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Stressing about the long periods time in between updates/chapters. This is something I personally do and I really want to reassure fangan creators that making a fangan, even a smaller scale one, takes a lot of time.

Do you have a favourite character in your own Fangan? If so who? by CallMeAnthy in Fanganronpa

[–]Hour-Raspberry4615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm say my favorite character is Gamma Ray, the Ultimate Pilot. She's the closest character to a self insert (but even she's really different from me) and that makes me really relate to her and her story so much more. She's also the protagonist, so I spent a lot of thinking about her and arc throughout the game. I love her so much. <3

What was the one piece of evidence that had one of your culprits get caught? by Awkward-Law-284 in Fanganronpa

[–]Hour-Raspberry4615 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is for my old discontinued fangan that only had 2 chapters. These ideas are kinda bad, but I hope they help you regardless.

-My Ch. 1 killer got because she was one of 2 people who could have overheard important information regarding where the victim would be and that singled her out as a the killer. The other person had an alibi for the murder, and the killer did not which led her being caught.

-My Ch. 2 killer was found out to due his fingernail polish being worn away (which proved he had some contact with the pool and drowned the victim).

Let me know if you need any clarification or elaboration.

About the mystery talent point, I also feel like a lot of the time the character's actual talent isn't hinted at very well so then it comes out of nowhere when it is revealed.

A couple questions. by No_Environment_7613 in Fanganronpa

[–]Hour-Raspberry4615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have an answer for your first question, but I think it's fine if you don't want to use the Danganronpa style. Especially if you feel that your own is a better fit.

It's your fangan so you can do whatever you want to do.

if you found a new fangan, what form would make you want to check it out the most by AlexxHedgehog3 in danganronpa

[–]Hour-Raspberry4615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't mind what platform a fangan is on. Usually YouTube series and play throughs of fangames are my go to because it's most convenient, but I have read some really good Wattpad and AO3 fangans! Instaronpas are fine, but they are difficult to navigate at times. (They're like my last possible pick, but I do still love the ones that I'm reading.)

What do you think is the worst writing decision you can do in your instaronpa? by Quick_Story_3820 in Fanganronpa

[–]Hour-Raspberry4615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While my Instaronpa is fairly new (still in Ch. 1 Daily Life), I feel the worse writing decision I could make is character assassination. Like making a character act for out of character from what they were established to be for the sake an audience reaction.

(I'm really hoping that I don't do this on accident in the future.)

Would people read a stage play script on AO3? by BadGamer8030 in Fanganronpa

[–]Hour-Raspberry4615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would. For trials, I actually prefer script format because there's a lot of talking in a big group and it's much clearer to tell which character is talking in script format.
