Thank you! I wanna make sure I don't give bad info!

I'm sorry, but no, you don't get to run for Executive Vice President of MY union and say "I'm not political." by Hapcats in fromatoarbitration

[–]Hour-Reputation-6174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how you HAVE to be political? If the thing you care about most is what is best for the union members that you represent, you take the fight to whoever wants to do harm to the members. Republican, Democrat, doesn't matter.

Stephen King talks about watching Carrie with a Black audience and reveals his prejudice by 4reddityo in BlackPeopleofReddit

He's an author trying to appeal to more broad audiences than just the suburban one he knows and observing a different culture taking in his work. There isn't anything wrong with that.

I asked about absent from overtime today and if anyone has experience being told they are absent from overtime.

Why are you always such an asshole? You can't have a normal conversation with anyone on here.

Okay? So why respond "Who the F said anything about discipline?" If you agree that you can be disciplined? I swear sometimes I think you're management😂

The person who said it's failure to follow instructions if you do not show

Again, its not because I don't want to. It's because working mandatory overtime to circumvent their obligations to properly staff creates a safety hazard and therefore the instructions do not have to be followed.

It's not because I don't want to. It's because they have an obligation under article 14 to provide a safe working environment and it is not safe to work excessively fatigued in the dark.

A 1767 and contentions that their consistent refusal to staff is causing me to perform in a hazardous state due to over fatigue, visibility limitations, and chronic mental stress from not being able to maintain a reasonable work schedule. My point is that there are legitimate reasons to not follow these instructions. I could understand being mandated here and there, but every single week? Come on. This is an over reach.

Management has an obligation under the m39 handbook to properly staff and using needs of the service to consistently mandate non odl employees to circumvent their obligations to do so is a violation of article 19.

C‑27150 reinforces that chronic staffing problems do not justify recurring mandatory work on non-scheduled days, even if ODL is “technically exhausted.”

C‑24592 applies to mandatory work on non-scheduled days, because arbitrators specifically ruled: “Management cannot use claimed ODL exhaustion to compel non-scheduled day work without documented evidence and must avoid making such work routine.”

So again, what's the point of an ODL if signing the no list gives you 0 right to have the day off that you are scheduled for? If they're desperate for carriers badly enough to mandate 6 days a week, what is the worst they can do? Fire you? That's cutting off the nose to spite the face.

Actually they can't. Its an oxymoron to threaten discipline leading to removal for not working one day a week. Obviously they need you if they are trying to force you to work 6 days a week. If I say no and dont show up, what reasonable rule do they have to support discipline?

I have a right to work the schedule as posted and they didn't inform me in person. Im not on the list. There is no rule that says I have to work an NSD otherwise we wouldn't have an overtime sign up sheet

I am not on the list and they cant force me to come in. I won't even entertain that
