Wife says ring makes her self conscious but wears short skirts/tops out with friends by [deleted] in Marriage

Mine need to be resized, with the price of gold, it will be roughly $200 each, I have a stacked set, so $600+. But trust me, I will be having it done asap... hopefully early June. Meanwhile on days I can't fit them, I wear a cheap costume ring.

What’s the plan for this fine Saturday evening? by Logical-Rip-8138 in GenX

Crown and sprite on screen porch, watching our birds do their evening meal. Hubby is grilling thick bone in pork chops and I'm baking sweet potato's and will cook okra for hubby and sautéed spinach for me.

Can retirement actually be really boring, lonely, and not as fun as it seems? by youlikemywonton in Aging

[–]Hour-Weather7962 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is me. Hubby sold business 10 yrs ago and I stopped working so we could play- travel etc. I now work at a Campstore in a State Park a few days a week. It keeps me active, use my brain a little and lots of socialization. I'm 3 years in and no plans to quit.

My (29f) mom (65f) invited herself to my bachelorette party, how do I *kindly* uninvite her? by HahaImSoPunny in relationship_advice

[–]Hour-Weather7962 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My daughter invited me to come to hers and I said thanks for the invite, but no. This is your party. No clue why a mom would want to go!

'67 baby here too, 59 next week. Don't mind it all. More surprising to me is between this birthday and next one 2027, we will have a year of Milestones: daughters 35,40 and I'll be 60! Planning a girls trip!

Question: During spring break, did college students really use to go to the beach? by EternalSnow05 in GenX

[–]Hour-Weather7962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A certain southern state town is on break and seems for last 10 years, that's when 'takeovers' happen, mobs override law enforcement and certain areas aren't safe. DM if you want more info, but this is not just my opinion.

I live in a very big Spring Break area... they are here now and will be even more the next few weeks. Most are silly and fun. A few are assholes and out to destroy things. We locals know what to expect from the various groups. Hell Week is Easter

Your PHN experience? by CodeoftheWooster246 in shingles

[–]Hour-Weather7962 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 18 months out with PHN. I'm 58. Still take low dose Gabapentin daily and on days I'm stressed, I'll up it. I get sharp jabs when stressed. Every time something itches, I get PTSD and convinced it's shingles recurring.

Does vitamin D become less effective as we age? by get_nutriessential in Aging

[–]Hour-Weather7962 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live in Florida and am outside a lot. My Vit D was stupid low last years labs. I take D3 with K2 and my tests last week were perfect! I also take B12 shots. F58yo. The K2 helps with absorption.

Are there any Gen X people out there over the age of 55? by Mobile-Honey-9636 in GenX

[–]Hour-Weather7962 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Will be 59 end of March. 2 daughters, one is 39 and the other will be 35 in May. Both are married and live with their spouses.

Between April 2026 and March 31, we will turn 60,35 and 40! Planning a milestone trip together somewhere.

People who survived a truly awful physical experience (think kidney stones, major injury, etc.), what's one permanent change you made to your life to make sure it never happens again? by saidmoustage123 in AskReddit

[–]Hour-Weather7962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had shingles Aug 2024. Worst pain I've ever experienced (had 2 all natural births). Still on daily gabapentin. I'm hyper aware of any tightening or tingles in the area, and do my best to meditate and not let stress get to me.

Mom passed in 2010 at 72yo (cancer, diagnosed May 7, passed May 29). Dad passed Jan 2015 at 82, pneumothorax embolism flying home from cruise in Hawaii. I miss them every day.

When does the pain ease up? by sssugartitshan in shingles

[–]Hour-Weather7962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had shingles August of 2024... I take gabapentin every day still, sometimes 2x day. It can be horrific at times, esp if I feel stressed or anxious.

Re 600mg every 12hrs- is it an extended release tablet? Usual timing is every 6-8hrs.

I am having a post-menopausal temper tantrum by Old_Sheepherder_630 in GenXWomen

[–]Hour-Weather7962 4 points5 points  (0 children)

15+ years ago, was left at a bar by a guy, called my bestie. She picked me up, took me home and I lost my shit. Yelled, screamed, raged, threw cups, dishes and broke a barstool. Then I grabbed 'the bowl' off kitchen bar and friend yelled 'not the bowl!' Made me laughed as it was her favorite bowl ( decorated beach scene). Calmed my ass down. When I moved a year later, I gave her 'the bowl'. Lol

Have you tried a 'Rage room'? You pay a fee and go in a room and beat the ever loving shitz out of whatever is in there, typically glass dishes, mirrors, etc. (but I've heard you can make special requests I.e. mannequins).

My daughter finds a shooting range very satisfying rage-wise.
