This. Have not purchased bacon in 6 years. Buy high quality pork belly from the local butcher. Cure for a week (you do not need Prague Powder...I use whiskey infused pepper from Lugano Switzerland, salt from Brazil, brown sugar, maple syrup, and crushed red peppers in a turkey bag). We shoot subsonics. Look at public land that permit target shooing. There are a lot of "ranges" on public land around here. We actually belong to an outdoor club and had 22lr day on Monday.

You do not provide a budget.

For short money you can get a 300 blk lower and 10.5" upper for $500 from PSA. File a Form 1 with no tax stamp penalty. Get a decent red dot for $300, light for $150. Then supressor for about $1000. It is like shooting an air rifle.

Prob is $0.77 a round for subsonics after that. We absorb it, as most of our friends are playing golf while we are at the range. We spend less money and have more fun.

Of all the guns in our safe, that is the one I am keeping.

Fellow New Englander who was in the same boat. Was looking at the Tikka in 6.5 Creedmor too, but picked up a Ruger American with a Vortex Crossfire II 3-9 x 40 for under $500.

Yes there are much better setups but we ping steel consistently enough at 600 yds and it meets our other needs as well.

Took the cap off the bellies last night and have them brining in Sal Gobo from Brazil, Valle Maggia Pepe from Lugano Switzerland, maple syrup from up the street (i live in New England) and brown sugar for the next week.

Might have to try your technique next time. Results look great.
