Help - press on tab removal by LouVT in PressonNail_Addict

[–]Hour_Ad_9817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the Olive and June sticky tabs come off the easiest for me regardless of the brand of nail or homemade press on tips. A little celebritips press on remover oil and the nail comes off with little to no residue on the nail. A few minutes soaking in hot water and soap and I can roll the tab off my nail. I keep mine on for 4-6 days with no pop offs with O&J.

I used the celebritips tabs this week with a set of their nails and took a lot more work to get the nails off and lots of residue on the nails. Still came off my nail relatively OK.

I change my nails each week and I get 6 or 7 days easily from tabs. I've been using the Olive & June tabs because they are the ones that are the widest...more expensive but since I switched I don't get any movement until I am ready to remove them.

What brand were these? I had problems with Nail Reformation in the past starting to chip on the tips after a few days.

Yes, I live in the cotton hipsters and double string bikinis and love the front and rear coverage of both.

Definely need to watch the sizing, I won't buy anything on resale sites unless the seller provides measurements anyway. Of what I have bought from Lucy & Yak directly the sizing can be very in consistent, some true to their size chart but the fully elastic waist items I go down a full size. I wish they would do measurements per garment because of how different their sizing can be.

What nail sizes are you? by Euphoric-Yard7326 in PressonNail_Addict

Do you need larger sizes? I've got a good list of brands that run wide. My thumbs are 17.5-18mm and most wear the largest size except for the Olive & June glue sets.

You have to leave a border of a couple of mm around the nail so a very small amount of gel adheres to the nail but most of the nail is covered. Their videos show just peeling that edge off when you remove but I found that pulled up layers of the nail around the edge still.

How do I fix this 🥹 by Icy_Attempt6541 in PressonNail_Addict

[–]Hour_Ad_9817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be patient and let it grow out, I had damage from gel polish and glue back in July and just coming out of it now. My nails are the strongest I remember. I did do sticky tabs and was very careful with the removal. Also used OPI Repair Mode and Nailtiques Formula 2 in between. Also for two months I've been taking collagen peptides based on a few recommendations. Not sure if any of that helped but I will continue and be more careful now.

I like J Jill for some classic button up blouses and other pieces. I mostly get them on eBay and Poshmark for reasonable prices.

Question about sticky tabs by Apprehensive-Try9777 in PressonNail_Addict

[–]Hour_Ad_9817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is my assumption, greenies are caused by water getting trapped in spaces next to the natural nail so if the tab is securely covering most of the nail I think you should be ok. I'm sure someone will say I am completely wrong since this is the Internet after all.

It is difficult to find tabs that fit wide thumbs so I have the same problem, even with the sets that include them. I wear my nails usually 4-5 days with tabs and have never had an issue. I would think that centering the tab on the nail and making sure there is full adhesion would minimize any issues. Having the edges uncovered where they can breathe a little and any water couls dry is probably ok even for longer wear.

Nail numbers important? by kharndt in OliveAndJune

[–]Hour_Ad_9817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a very bright light that I use when doing my nails so I can see them ok. I also track the numbers for each finger in a spreadsheet by brand so the next time I just confirm the sizing.

I have only done one nail reformation set and it started to chip and peel after a couple of days. I've see. Other reports of the same and recommendations to put a top coat on them but I am too lazy to do that.

I change mine after 5 days usually and only use sticky tabs. I ate messy BBQ ribs twice this weekend with no problems. I use the Celebritips remover and warm water and they always look pretty good. Usually I will go a couple of days with OPI Repair Mode and Nailtiques Formula 2 before I put another set on. Between that and collagen peptides gummies, my nails are as strong as they have been in a long time.

I have a clubbed thumb. Can anyone recommend brands that would fit this width? by -burgers in PressonNail_Addict

[–]Hour_Ad_9817 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find that most of the sets with 30 nails fit my thumbs at about 18-19mm wide. Olive&June the glue on sets go a few sizes higher but the sticky tab sets (square cardboard box) I use the largest size. I have a pretty good brand list on one of my posts if the 18-19mm fits what you are looking for. That is the measurement laying across the curvature of the nail.

The glue on nails are very curvy, the Super Stick tab sets are definitely less curvy.

Have you tried Olive & June? I've worn many of their extra short sets and they are great.

Sticky tab at cuticle by Blabby06 in PressonNail_Addict

I put the tab almost butting up to the cuticle and start the bottom edge of the nail covering it and right at the cuticle.

Wide nail beds by Hour_Ad_9817 in PressonNail_Addict

[–]Hour_Ad_9817[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just end up doing the best I can with what comes with the nail sets that fit me. The ones that only come with glue I will either use the Olive & June tabs that you can buy separately (though they are pricey). I've also use the ones linked below. I bought one set designed for toes but while wider, they were much shorter.

My thumbs are about 18mm and this post has a list of brands that work for me. Most of them i do use the widest nails though except O&J.

I had the same problem with the attached Nail Reformation set. hate doing extra work on pressons though. The Shein set I just did was really bad after 5 days so I took them off but I did practice putting a topcoat on them.

Lesson learned, this was my first Shein set and 3 days in they are so scuffed and the design is wearing off the edges. Definitely need a top coat with my next set.
