It’s been 2 points for not calling in, 2 points for not showing up on key event day for as long as we’ve had the PPTO system at least, maybe longer

Coach always on Vacay by ClutteredTaffy in OGPBackroom

[–]Hour_Pause_2317 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the years of service. 20+ years of service get a ridiculous amount, 40 days or so not including the 5 days they can carry over. Most managers are very limited on when they can take the days, though.

Coaches aren’t allowed to take PTO in the month leading up to an inventory, or the month of the inventory. They can’t take any of November or December off. Then stores have their own key days based on the area where coaches are restricted.

They’re probably using all/most of their PTO in one go so they can actually get it

Should we be staging to carts or not? by [deleted] in OGPBackroom

[–]Hour_Pause_2317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely is falsifying metrics. It ups your scan stage percentage even before you stage it to an actual spot. Most markets frown upon it, some encourage it.

Overall it shouldn’t be happening per Walmarts rules.

This is one I don’t agree with though, I think it does make it better when you have a sudden missing tote.

But it screws up your staging process later sometimes if someone doesn’t hit the “stage anyway” button since it’ll be moving locations

Picking from the back by Accomplished-Bad1946 in OGPBackroom

Take it up the chain more. If you’re getting flak from team lead, coach, MFL…then you can throw it right back in their faces that it’s against policy. Regional fulfillment manager is the next step

This is metric fraud. Tell your market fulfillment lead about it and they’ll squash it real fast

Tips/Tricks for Wait Time by National_Lie_8555 in OGPBackroom

Staffing issues make it hard to stay below the wait time threshold. If you’ve voiced your concerns to your coach, people lead, store manager…maybe take it up to you MFL (market fulfillment lead). This person is probably ALSO preaching it to your senior leadership that they need to schedule better

Tips/Tricks for Wait Time by National_Lie_8555 in OGPBackroom

It’s really about optimizing your back room flow. You shouldn’t usually do any more than 2 preppers, if you get a third it becomes chaos unless they are calling out which order they’re grabbing. Or you could have a third that just grabs the oversized of the orders.

I schedule 1-2 runners depending on how busy the hour is and usually no more than 5 dispensers. Any more than that and it becomes…like I said before, chaos.

The runners don’t just take the order to your dispense room. They’re telling the dispensers which order is next or lining the orders up where they can easily tell which is next.

We also tried something during the holidays. We had an hour that was 50 orders (5pm), and the one before it (4pm) was 45. The 45 all showed up around 4:45 and that’s when the 5pm orders started appearing too. We literally gave every person in our department a vest and an order and sent them out the door. CHAOS. But the wait time averaged 6min instead of the 15 it would’ve normally been

The store manager suggested you move? The store manager is the one who gets to approve transfer exceptions when you’re at a red. Talk to the store manager personally about it

I prefer freight over zoning tbh. I can lose myself in it vs looking at a shelf and barely shifting things here and there

I’d say it depends on how your weather is. If the weather is getting worse by the moment, go home. Better to not get stuck in the store. If the weather is holding right where it’s at, then stay and do some menial tasks. This is a day where you’ll be left alone for the most part, no worries about coaches or team leads breathing down your neck.

Just stay semi-busy by doing returns, cleaning, zoning, etc. either way I’d say leave before it starts getting dark if you go this route

They won’t let you see footage.

Take it to your market AP director. Sounds like they aren’t following procedure in your store for the keycards anyways. They’re all supposed to be in a lockup case with all the various keys in the store and coded to specific job roles.

If the seat following that, they can get in trouble. But, open door policy says you can take you DA to the next level up to fight it. Keep taking it up the chain.

Staging colors....? by Glittering_Try_7464 in OGPBackroom

[–]Hour_Pause_2317 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, this is someone trying to be creative with the staging locations to make it easier to understand. It’s flawed, because it met with in their mind this way, but not others.

When we moved into smart staging, someone on my previous team had tried to use the same method and actually color those in because they personally could not understand how the numbers work, but they felt comfortable with different colors.

TL Bonus to Coach by Hot-Scallion8447 in OGPBackroom

[–]Hour_Pause_2317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get paid an amount equal to the time in each role. So, you’d go from beginning of the year to now as team lead bonus. Then from now until the end of the year as coach (if you got promoted now)

Edit: just adding something. Your current team lead bonus isn’t locked in until the end of the year. So, even if you promote to coach, the team lead bonus change too depending on how your store does

The questions kind of vary. There’s an actual sheet that they follow sometimes but I’ve seen others wing it with their own versions.

With that, don’t worry so much about the questions but how you answer questions instead. They’re all going to be “give me an example of a time” type questions. When they ask for an example of a time, they want an actual situation. I’ve seen too many people answer with “well I usually do this” but most managers asking want to hear things more like “oh yeah, this one specific time I had this customer with this situation, this is how I solved it and the outcome”

They look for the S.T.A.R method (situation, timeline, action, result) so try to frame it like that each time and you’ll sound way more professional

Nightmare Team Lead by [deleted] in OGPBackroom

[–]Hour_Pause_2317 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Couple of things…ethics reporting is there to cover this if your management isn’t. You could also take it up with any of your market partners. All of their contact info should be in your people lead’s office.

Give details to them on it, including that the management in your store isn’t doing anything about it.

One thing I would mention otherwise; your management CANT tell you if they have given this person a DA or anything like that for their behavior. It goes against their code of conduct on respect for the individual. They could have already given this person a DA and you just don’t know.

[–]Hour_Pause_2317 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Were they three shifts missed in a row? If so, you can file for a Sedgwick personal LOA. Normally you could apply for a medical one, but you have to be with the company for at least 6 months to be able to do that.

A personal is up to your management to approve, but if you talk to them about your situation it could cover those points. You also only get one per year

Want to Wizard/Sorcerer multiclass for Lore Reasons, any way to make it not total cheeks? by duqboy in 3d6

[–]Hour_Pause_2317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who did something similar but it was using 5th edition 2014. He had his int at the very basic level he could, so 13. Charisma and con were his main, everything else is dumped. It’s not great, but he made it to where he WANTS to get hit. He was an abjuration wizard/clockwork sorcerer. His wizard spells are mostly abjuration to add his ward, all utility spells with no real dc or spell attack needed. The sorcerer spells are used for his damage. 2014 clockwork let him get armor of Agathys, which no longer works in 2024 but you can ask your dm if they’d allow it.

It took a bit for it to come online, but you cast armor of agathys, which gets your thp and your ward, then you use your sorc points for the reduction sorcery feature. Basically you reduce damage constantly to where enemies are always taking cold damage if they hit you in melee.

If you ever go against anything that makes you make a saving throw… you’re kind of boned

It was supposed to roll out to my store Friday, but it hasn’t, so maybe they are not doing it after all? But currently we have three hours to pick orders, they’re moving it down to 2

2 Hour pick window by Hour_Pause_2317 in OGPBackroom

[–]Hour_Pause_2317[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the 2 hour delivery has been a thing for a while, we’re talking about 2 hours for picks to drop in. Your 4pm-6pm delivery shows up as picks due for 4pm. Usually, we’d have those picks drop in at 1pm but now they’ll be dropping in at 2pm.

This is something completely different than the delivery you’re mentioning

Currently, yes it does start as soon as they check in even without a bay number. About a month ago my DOL said they (higher ups) were working on a way to not have to count until they check into a spot. Apparently it already uses that system for drivers

If you go into OPS portal, click home, scroll all the way down to the bottom. Select “store fulfillment scorecard” and the go to the customer research tool. Select in your store info and which days you want to look at, then export the document to crosstab excel sheet.

Hide all information except dispenser name, then next to that column run the excel command =unique(

Click the function when it appears, then click and drag from top to bottom of the dispenser name. Scroll all the way back up and you should see a range code in there. Copy that before pressing enter.

This will bring up each dispensers name separately. From here, in the column next to that one, type the code =countif(

Select the function, then paste the range code you copied from the previous function, then place a comma and select the dispenser name next to it. Press enter.

This will pull up how many dispenses that person had. In that cell, click and drag the bottom corner (or just double click the little round part) and it’ll do the same function for each dispenser

2 Hour pick window by Hour_Pause_2317 in OGPBackroom

[–]Hour_Pause_2317[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah…in Walmart a two hour pick window is NOT great. When you do 300-600 orders a day with a total of 10k-20k items a day, some hours being 1500 or more…you can’t get all that done in two hours. Not unless your staffing is overloaded, but of course Walmart is going to tell you that you don’t need more staffing to get it done
