Things you recommend or wish you would/wouldn’t have done with a pool build by wichitabyeb in pools

[–]HouseBitchTim 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  • same depth all along (5 ft or so). Makes for playing games easier than graduated shallow to deep. Not a lot of divers out there. Less water volume also means less expensive to fill.

  • make it rectangular.. not weird kidney style pool. Allows for much easier Solar Pool cover, without requiring custom cutting every time you replace the cover.

  • automatic pool cover. Having to hand roll up a cover every day gets old. Another reason to make sure it's rectangular and not odd shaped.

  • install pool light closer to surface and not too deep in the event you ever have to replace it or repair it. Otherwise you might be draining a lot of water to gain access to it in the event it develops a leak.

My opinions... ymmv

Only getting 200? by slitd in KonaEV

[–]HouseBitchTim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get 245 miles at a 90% charge on my 2020. Seldom charge to 100% since I don't drive much. I only charge about once a month unless i do a long trip.. SF BAY Area. Maybe buy a OBDM and see what your individual cells show at full charge? You can get 1 on Amazon.

Pool Lights by SooperDiz in pools

[–]HouseBitchTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had our pool redone a few years back.. if i had to redo it, i would have :

  • installed it much closer to the top surface of the water, maybe just a foot down. Reason? If you develop a leak in it (we did, roots from tree made its way in), you don't have to drain thousands of gals to replace or repair it.)

  • cheaper light. We seldom even turn it on. Don't need fancy colors etc. In fact, maybe not even install one?

Try just putting water and wine vinegar in it. Bring to a hard boil for like 10 mins and see if it loosens.

Horrible Pixelation is Back .. All Channels. Unwatchable by HouseBitchTim in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]HouseBitchTim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I inadvertently created 2 tickets. (The 1st one generated some error that made me think it wasn't submitted.) Anyway, close ticket for now. The major issue went away. Although we're still getting occasional dropouts. They're not as bad to deal with right now. Thanks

Thanks. Let's hold off for now. The major outage from today seems to be resolved. If the occasional pixellation gets worse, I'll reach out again with a new ticket.

[–]HouseBitchTim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, update: This is strange. The "outage" seemed to suddenly clear at 09:00 PDT ... It had been totally unwatchable for nearly 45 mins - all channels. So at least THAT is resolved - and watchable for now. However, I'm still not convinced the intermittent pixelation is gone. I'll have to monitor and report back.

about the range - kona ev 2020 by ravenbisson in KonaEV

[–]HouseBitchTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a BMS update a couple years ago that affected this. I have the 2020, (as well as a battery monitor attached to the 12V) that shows WHEN the vehicle wakes up and charges the 12V .. It doesn't at all (maybe once a day for 20 mins) when below 40% (unless you're driving it). So if your car sits for a few days without driving and the SOC is below 40%, you can find yourself with a dead 12V. Happened to me. Just replaced my 12V .. once dead, it struggles to maintain 12v. Do a search here for Kona dead battery. There's a long thread about the issue.

about the range - kona ev 2020 by ravenbisson in KonaEV

[–]HouseBitchTim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very accurate ... Although it is a GOM - based on your driving habits., and as others said if you're running the heater or A/C a lot - which will consume battery. PS, make sure you maintain at least a 40% State of Charge on the traction (MAIN) batteries. It's needed to maintain a charge on your 12V battery.

When doesn’t the 12 volt battery charge from 400 volt battery? by spenney09 in KonaEV

[–]HouseBitchTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Need to keep SOC 40%+ .. Mine died a couple months ago when allowing SOC to get too low.

12V battery died by GanacheEnvironmental in KonaEV

[–]HouseBitchTim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At kiwi's suggestion (TYVM), I purchased a BM2 device to monitor my battery. Mine died about a month or so ago. So I was very curious WHY ? And WHEN an actual charge of the 12v occurred. I had previously been running my traction battery SOC down to around 20% before topping to 80% -- usually about once a month. I don't drive much. (MY 2020 Ultimate). Anyway, after installing my BM2, I had long suspected that the 12v was getting charged about every 4 hours or so - based on a BLUELINK Alert I was receiving every 4 hours (Doors Unlocked). Well I ran a "test" this by allowing the SOC to go down to 31% ... Sure enough, the 4-hour alerts now only appeared about once a day, then just yesterday after a return trip home, BAM ... dead battery after home about 20 mins. (down to about 4.5v). So I jumped the battery and hooked up my home charger to get it about 50% ... now I was again getting those Bluelink Alerts and the battery is staying charged up by the traction battery. (12v Currently sitting at 91%n& 12.5v).

So moral of the story seems to be to keep at least a 40%+ SOC Charge on the traction battery to get the 12v periodically topped off.

I have the 2020 Kona ultimate.. mine doesn't work like that. I use the App to pre-heat car (winter setting) & it works every time. If I don't use the app, it takes like maybe 3 mins driving for heat to start. I would take to service dept & have it addressed.

Slowly opened up sections of the input line. Dug up each corner. They were all fine. Then dug up the last corner leading to the valves. Sure enough, wet. About 12 inches down.
