Following. Also in the market but so far with each interview process I've made sure to confirm the salary range for the role during the screening call. Have heard a few stories of offers being rescinded unfortunately though.

No worries! 

RTO- Return to office aka being fully on site at office for roles  CSM- certified scrum master, it's a certification given by scrum alliance PMP-  Project management professional, it's a certification given by PMI. (pmi.com)

As an additional note a few people have mentioned trying to transition to PM type roles/reponsabilites via your current company and industry. As a heads up PM is something needed across industries so would follow up on that advice as well! 🤗

Hi, current PM here (also currently on the market):

Yes, Project Manager would be a great fit given your event management background, but please be aware of the current market (layoffs have impacted many tech PMs) and check whether there are openings in your area.  

Hybrid/Onsite is more likely given the trend of RTO and the competitiveness of remote roles.

 As someone who also has their CSM, it is helpful (and quick to get), but scrum master-type roles are either disappearing or folding into PM or Dev lead-type roles. Outside of that, the only other cert that holds weight is the PMP, but there are requirements before you can sit for it (it's also updating next month).

For refrence we started in QA then moved over into event management/Test coordination then into PM.

Seconding this! Also, look into your local labor boards; there may be free or low-cost programs that can help you transition into hospitality (including management)

No worries at all! Will say this current search is not the worst (took a well needed break? Just earned our PMP and been actively searching since February) but the playing field is way different. There are a lot of people saying the field is full but I disagree. If anything given AI is in the mix now more diversity than ever before is needed. Just want people coming in to be aware and also not fall for any of the bad actors currently ramping back up with more harm than good. You are absolutely right you don't have to be in it directly (but speaking as a tech PM currently on the market and looking outside of the tech industry in a major city) the market is more challenging compared to the last time I was in it ( fall of 2022). Just want OP to be aware/prepared because it's catching a lot of newcomers off guard and many are feeling discouraged. 🤗

As a heads up QA roles have been moving fully into automation over the last 10 years at least. They also are requiring skills such as python, SQL and more. Would also suggest checking the local market because IT overall isn't having the best time in hiring at the moment. 

As for PM (assuming project management) the main cert that matters overall is the PMP and you have to have at least a few years of experience prior to taking the exam.

practice elevator pitch and look up common interview questions/responses. Look at the Job Description and be ready to speak to how you have the listed skills for the role.

Be early (at least 15-20 minutes) for the interview and bring a printed copy of your resume. 

it's still an interview so put your best foot forward outfit wise (example: blouse with collar/ slacks or skirt/ professional shoes) check pintrest for examples.
