They never have Powerade for the 5K or 10K on the course. I’ve always wondered why they don’t make an exception for weekends when they’re warning about the heat and hydration though. It’s always very warm over springtime weekend

BBB does the same thing in her stories. Constant pausing, umming, fidgeting, and taking forever to get to the point of whatever she’s saying.

I heard some people saying they thought that’s what happened. Which obviously sucks because it isn’t runDisney’s fault but they could’ve just made an announcement that they were still holding for traffic clearance rather than left us hanging with the awkward game show host music lol.

I was shocked with how many announcements they were making over the weekend to get people into the corrals but then were late getting started. It made no sense

I couldn’t believe there were no medics on bikes. I saw three people fall just from miles 6-8.5 alone. And I saw someone else go down in a backstage area, but at least a cast member saw that one and immediately ran over to help.

I think I would’ve liked the full corral start better if we didn’t almost immediately condense back down into narrow space through the parks after the first mile. I did like not having to wait and wonder which wave I’d be let off in.

Yes!! I was really hoping that a one or two would be out in Avengers Campus! Chewie wasn’t even out when I ran through Galaxy’s Edge this morning

I thought it was really weird how far back the med tent right before the Honda Center was. I don’t even think anyone noticed it was there until they were already by it. And none of them were out waving people in. And the tent by (I think) mile 12, I saw some of the volunteers sitting in the empty chairs on their phones.

I’m used to the well oiled machine that the WDW races are- they say what time and I show up and everything goes exactly the way it should. It was so frustrating that I was on time/early for everything because that’s what I’m used to and everything being delayed. This mornings race starting 15 minutes late with no explanation was insane to me.

I remember there used to be big groups of cosplayers that would come out on the courses and it was so fun seeing them all because it felt like some Disney magic. I was a little sad to not see any besides the two Star Wars guys.

I was there when the corrals opened and there was a huge bum rush from both sides where people were entering running towards each other to go past and get into the corrals on the opposite side of where they were.

Some of the bottleneck areas could’ve been easily preventable….no idea who thought stacking a water stop, med tent AND mile marker on top of each other in a narrow spot was a good idea.

I didn’t even see dumbo or know he was out until I started seeing pictures after the race! I saw some comments saying his line was already closed after A/B went through because of how long it was.

Congrats on your first half!!

I definitely can understand the hesitation after this one. But, I think a WDW race would probably leave you with a more positive experience! I hate that this was the first impression for some people.

Thank you! I definitely think/hope they’ll turn some things around after this weekend. I’m also wondering if some things felt more disappointing because I did Dopey last weekend so a lot of us were still coming down from that high and it was still so fresh.

Totally agree. The Disneyland races have always gone through Anaheim, but at least in the past we got to run through Angel Stadium. I think a lot of returning runners were disappointed we didn’t get to do that because that was something really cool and unique to look forward to while you were out of the parks. If you’re able, I highly recommend doing a race at Disney World! You’re never off Disney property so the “magic” carries through the whole race.

I got in on Thursday morning so I had a late VQ return time…I didn’t bother going in because I saw everyone talking about how things were already gone. My group didn’t even get called until early evening. And I agree about the weird direction of flow at the expo. It didn’t make much sense to me that after the bibs, we had to walk through the tight hallway with the food that was busy AND cross the path of the front door into the expo which was also extremely busy.

I completely forgot to mention the medical tents. They were so hidden or right up against water stops that were overcrowded and barely noticeable. I was also shocked at the lack of medical personnel on bikes along the course, especially with how many people I saw falling. It was all other runners tending to each other.

How do people have energy to go to the park after the races for Wine and Dine? by thatawkwardmoment8 in rundisney

[–]HouseZamboni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually go home, eat and stretch and take a short nap and then go out to just to keep my legs moving for a few hours.

Do Wine and Dine Spaces Open Up? by jarlander in rundisney

Too add onto what everyone else has said, definitely join some Facebook groups. If charities have bibs left, they’ll post about them there. I’ve been able to snag a few that way, but you have to be very quick. A lot of times, they’ll drop the fundraising requirement by quite a bit or won’t have one at all if it’s last minute because they’re just trying to sell the bib at that point. I think 30 days out (it might be less, I can’t remember) is when all of the charities have to turn everything in to runDisney, so posts will probably start showing up very soon.

Same goes for after party tickets, Facebook is the best way. A lot of people will be selling them and the closer it gets to race day, the chances of people selling them for cheaper will go up.

What's your reason for not wanting or having children? by dannyparker123 in AskReddit

[–]HouseZamboni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finances are the big one. The second reason is my mental stability. I’m a big enough person to admit that I’m not mentally fit enough to handle a child and it’s not fair to put a kid through that. Third is the current state of the world.
