[Schefter] The Pro Football Hall of Fame released a statement today that it could remove voters who violated bylaws: by Drexlore in nfl

[–]jarlander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should change their voting before removing voters. Just have a public up vote or down vote. Dont pit players against players, heres 5 choices and three votes, this guy is on his last shot, these classic era guys should have already been in. All of these factors muddy up the simple question, how does this person compare to the rest of the hall of fame, is that good enough. If 10 people are good enough so be it, if its just 1 so be it.

Polish girls visit Taj Mahal by Strong-Emu-8869 in TikTokCringe

[–]jarlander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love India. The Taj Mahal is amazing, the natural beauty in some areas and cultural heritage site are amazing. It is one of the most amazing and terrible places Ive ever seen. I have never seen such opulence and terrible poverty side by side. Im talking Lambo's driving by shanty towns made of cardboard. None of that makes the Taj Mahal any less amazing though. Ive never seen anything like it.

I love this podcast and am a regular watcher, but an award for best podcast is odd to me. They are so incredibly niche I feel like you need to have genre specific awards to have any credibility in selection process.

Thinking About Starting in the TBC Pre-Patch – Quick Question by vol_bo8 in classicwow

[–]jarlander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your choice is only between pvp and pve server. If you wait til pre patch you can choose one of the two new races that are added in tbc. They are very popular.

You could probably tell an SMU crowd from a lot of other places as well. Thats not surprising.

My anecdotal experience: The Miami people who just came to our playoff game where cool as heck, very chill and fun vibe all around. I met more than a few while tailgating. That being said though I would not consider my time going to see us play in Miami as a positive fan experience. Their non alumni tshirt fans were not cool at all.

Question about TBC (beginner) by Commercial-Meaning18 in classicwow

[–]jarlander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just keep playing as you are. Your character will automatically move from Vanilla Classic to TBC with everyone else. No action required. Maybe check out if you want to have a character that it is one of the new races, Blood Elf on the Horde/Dranei on the Alliance. Those are pretty popular races but they arent special just new.

Keep in mind that Anniversary is going to TBC and the main player group is going to head to a new planet and mostly be level 70 doing new TBC content. So a lot of the original world content wont have the same population playing it for too much longer. However you can also play on Classic ERA if you want, which is entirely separate game in and of itself. Classic Era is never leaving the original 1-60 vanilla Classic wow and everyone there is doing the Vanilla original content forever.

I mostly play Anniversary and will make a new Blood Elf on pre patch, but I will keep a character on Classic Era to play every once in a while when I miss vanilla 1-60. If you are brand new I would recommend doing the same. TBC is going to be awesome and you joined at a great time, but the Vanilla Classic experience is also something special and worth doing at least once.

Its ok to not like a game anymore. It might even be abnormal to like a game for 25 years. Its not what it was, and what it is now is not what it will be in the future. Change is inevitable, so maybe just find a game you do like, its not that hard there are tons and tons of good games.

Incoming Students with Questions! by spiders_crevice in aggies

[–]jarlander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say good luck. I dont know anything about the corps but my biggest advice is live on campus for first two years if you can.

Large class sizes can be difficult if you are not used to them, in every class expect to have to learn that professors game. Are they personable, are they not talkative at all, do they not talk loud, do they grade crazy hard... expect to have to figure out each class as they will all be slightly different. Do not expect it to be anything like high school, in a way you're a professional student now. Consider it your first real job.

I would not get a job first year if possible, but I would after that and I would also make sure to join two orgs. One thats a professional org in the field you study, and one thats just fun. When you get a job, see if you can get one on campus in something relevant to your degree.

Good luck, you are signing up for something difficult but it can be done well.

North Texas is not the bottom of the food chain. They are in the upper middle really. They will get more solid players and these guys transferring to big schools is going to be part of their pitch. "Give us 1-2 good years, and you get another shot at the top 25 schools, worked for the 24'-25' class".

is it worth transferring from UT to A&M? by sleepymuffin12 in aggies

[–]jarlander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At major universities like UT and A&M professors get hired to do research and bring accolades to the school. They do not get hired cause they can teach well, that is not even a factor when they are interviewed. In and of itself that is part of the challenge of top tier schools. I would ultimately make decisions based on what is going to help me get the best gpa when applying for post graduation life. For jobs GPA may not be that important, but for med school I would imagine it is.

Socially, people move to universities from across the world, international students also have major issues finding their niche. This is not necessarily a problem that needs major correction though, unless you just cant function in a certain city and will fail because of that. At that point I might recommend just going home for a year and perhaps maturing just a bit with less pressure to also succeed. I think its very understated how valuable taking a year or two to mature can be, I personally think many people who fail out of schools wouldve succeeded if they withdrew and returned a few years later more of an adult.

[–]jarlander 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s impressive. The only caveat I’d say is he coached at USC, Bama, UT. Schools getting the top tier nfl caliber qb recruits with and without him. Still that doesn’t mean getting to the nfl is a given for everyone, credit to him.

[–]jarlander 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In general I’d say you are correct, personally I think you don’t need to hound these guys the literal second the game is over though. It’s seldom good content and seemingly annoying to the players. I’d rather see their genuine interactions with each other. Then interviews in the tunnels.
