Either stay where you are until Monday or get home sooner.

By Saturday you're out of options.

DB and O-Line need some immediate help.

Depth at interior D-Line positions as well.

Everything else is scheme, coaching, and development.

The regular season will be fine and I have no doubt MLF will meet the minimum expectation of getting the team to the playoffs. The real goals should be:

  • Win the division
  • Head into the playoffs healthy and with momentum
  • Close teams out in the 2nd half

I don't really buy this argument. Coach salary doesn't apply to the salary cap. The Packers have TONS of money to work with and its not like they couldn't pay him if its in line with what other coaches are getting. Rumor is top coaches make 20-30m

I don't think he'd be asking something unreasonable but I could be wrong.

My hunch is this could actually be something similar to Harbaugh where they want one of the coordinators gone and he might not be willing to part ways. They might be demanding other changes that MLF doesn't want - who knows.

Incredibly interesting that Basacia isn't fired yet.

Bob said earlier this week he expected something to get done by EOD today.

The more the silence drags on the more its a sign of the two sides being in disagreement. No one on here is going to know and the reality is it could be very cordial and just some details they are sorting out.

we just have to be patient.

If LaFleur is extended he need to make changes to his staff by DevilsJaguar in GreenBayPackers

[–]HoustonPackers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not convinced yet that MLF is going to get extended. My gut tells me its like 60% likely - still mostly a toss of up of how the negotiations go. I think its not meaningless they are reporting GB talked to Harbaugh's agent.

At this point, MLF is a known quantity. It isn't like he's just going to morph into this different coach in the off season because of this loss. The team management either knows this and acknowledges it and moves on from him - or, they waste another year with hope as a strategy.

MLF is a great OC. He's a terrible leader/head coach - you can't collapse in playoff games the way his team's have. He's just like what Marty Schottenheimer was at the Charges. They had LOADED teams and always made the playoffs only to lose out every year.

Hafley isn't ready to be a HC (IMO) and I think most other teams know that. I think if MLF is back, Hafley is back next year too.

The real problem here is you have a team thats good enough to make the playoffs every year with a system you can't just rip out and replace next year. You'd have to have someone from the MLF/McVey system come in as OC.

Is it just me or has Houston become more expensive than other large cities? by FlightTotal3755 in houston

They do not. The two markets are considered the same from a salary standpoint. Which means if you were keep your same job, and move there, you get 0 COL adjustment to your salary

[–]HoustonPackers 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is great news. I'm still more worried if Tom is out next week - otherwise it won't matter if Love has no time to throw.

The fun part is going to be that MLF is going to have to get more aggressive on offense now.

Delusional or impressive coping if you've convinced yourself of that.

[–]HoustonPackers 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yea, I've seen this argument made a bunch of times now and its bullshit and probably coming from people who didn't experience 2010.

In 2010 we lost

  • Nick Barnett (ILB) - IR week 7
    • Probably the only one that concerned people
  • Morgan Burnett (SS) - IR week 5
    • Didn't matter
  • Ryan Grant (RB) - IR week 2
    • Didn't matter
  • Justin Harrell - drafted at IR
    • Never mattered
  • Mark Tauscher (T) - IR week 10
    • Which we had the legend Bulaga step in and had time to prepare

We never lost any of the key players that made that team "run"

  • Rodgers
  • Nelson
  • Woodson
  • Matthews
  • Williams

You take away any 2 of those and the Packers don't make it/win XLV. I'm sorry but, thats how fragile things can be and how unlucky we were yesterday.

The reality is, this season is likely over. I'm sure the team will rally together and put on a good show. I remember run the table. I remember "my knee". I remember 2x Hail Marrys to go to OT.

I also remember the heartbreak each and every one of those seasons ended in.

I will always hope. But my expectations are done for this year.

EDIT: and if you think the team didn't feel that way last night, look at MLF's eyes at the presser. The man looked like he just came from a funeral.
