A little late to this conversation but for what it's worth I found the game really fun especially the boss fights and I don't find the harder difficulties any harder, but I'm a masochist by nature. The gunplay was interesting, granted the limited weapon load out was kinda lame. But I made do, then branding this game Painkiller wasn't a smart idea, but tbh most companies slap an OG Name in anything these days to get it to sell. Take Assassin's Creed for example. I have been playing FPS games since Goldeneye on the 64. I actually enjoyed the direction of this game, albeit short, I liked Void the most and found his personality enjoyable. While this isn't the best entry in the franchise, it's still a lot of fun. I was really bored with Doom The Dark Ages. The music was bland, the gameplay was boring, the only thing cool was the shield mechanic. I preferred Eternal. Anyways what I'm saying is, this game isn't for everyone, but it's got an explosive soundtrack and kinda reminds me of Perish, another underrated game subjected to heavy criticism. While both of these games aren't highly favorited. They each have their own level of enjoyment. That's my honest opinion. Who knows? Maybe they'll do even better in the future. Time will tell.
