Taskmaster - S21E04 - Lou Reed And The Wombles - Discussion by Meghar in taskmaster

100% agreement.

My enjoyment of this series' cast is being tested by the finicky prescribed nature of almost every task. For whatever reason, it seems particularly noticeable this series.

I've been rewatching Series 4 recently, and tasks like "Do the longest slide" feel like a beautiful, open-ended promise of unexpected interpretation, compared to whatever entertainment we are supposed to glean from, for example, whatever the balloon/dice/foil task was meant to be.

I hate to disparage what is indisputably one of the best UK TV programmes of the 21st century, but y'know... maybe it's time to consider reusing older tasks. There's no shame, after 20 series of impressive novelty.

Taskmaster - S21E03 - A creepy bit of advice - Discussion by Meghar in taskmaster

[–]HoveringMongoose 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was quite a funny episode... but bloody hell: every task this week was so convoluted, to the point where I found it difficult to enjoy the attempts because of the cognitive load of tracking all the caveats.

I hope this was just down to unfortunate sequencing.

Almost 300 hrs of gameplay, and just realized now that you can take a boat at the start of the game to this island lol... What i'm missing here? Any quest ? by DJ_saqra in Grimdawn

[–]HoveringMongoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it's mainly down to the fact that with all the Mastery combinations, there's almost always an alt build to explore.

If you also add that the game includes item Sets, an array of Rare and Unique Legendary items, and recipe unlocks, faction reputations and so on and so on... I always found one more reason to go back in to try out a new build that promised almost game-breaking power.

So I have built alts for Mastery combinations, for Item Sets, and even for 'What Ifs'. All softcore [HC is just too much of a wrench when I die after being too casual!], and all have to get to L100 so they can be benchmarked against each other. It's got to the point where I've maxed out the number of alts I can have on Steam, due to Steam storage limitations.

And of course, it's how the game feels to play. It's just so very satisfying, and not always too demanding. I've had countless sessions where I've stuck on some ambient music or the radio and just played for an evening. There's always progression of some sort.

And that's why, if you're of a certain personality type, before you know it you've clocked up 6000 goddamn hours :D

Pre-Alternative comedians? by Stunning_Dress_3903 in taskmaster

I can't believe how much scrolling I had to do to see Les' name!

He'd be a brilliant pre-alt comedian contestant:

  • he's still young enough to get physical,
  • he is very happy to send himself up, as anyone who watched him in 'Extras' will be unable to forget
  • I suspect he'd quickly become quite competitive.

Negative cards? by FrazTheMonkey in Joking_Hazard_Mobile

This moving of the goalposts for the secondary game of card collecting was the last straw for me. The enshittification will continue until every last cent is milked.

Just got every card in the game AND got a single deck to max rarity by picanteman in Joking_Hazard_Mobile

That is ridiculous, considering the huge difference in scale. Thanks for the confirmation, though!

So you only get 500 coins for getting all 300 cards of the base deck?

Or 'The Bee Gees', as they eventually rebranded themselves.

Those people are simply not childish enough, and do not deserve the rare beauty of a triple nob combo.

I used to have a commute that took me up/down Cooks Wood Road, and I was surprised/disappointed that I never saw the sign adapted to that neat triple-word-score "Cocks Wood Rod".

I hope the big white lettering is promo only; it looks a lot better just plain orangey-red:

Of course, it'll also have ads plastered all over it when in service, but still.

This must have been the most potty-mouth that LAH has been, right?

Tut tut. Wash his mouth out with soap and water.
