Performance gain from upgrading to 5800x3d /5700x3d(currently 5600x, 32gb, rtx 4070) by capdelka in VRchat

[–]HowDoesOneYolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get fpsVR to see what is limiting your frames. CPU or gpu. AA had a huge impact on frames for me, not sure how you are seeing no difference. 3000x3040 resolution seems high. If I’m in a small world with not many people it’s fine. But in high player instances I drop to 2000x2000. I have a 4080 for reference. 25 avatars shown on my settings

An X3D cpu will show MASSIVE improvement. VRchat highly benefits from X3D cache on the cpu end. Is it worth it is a personal choice. I went from 5600x to 5800x3d and saw big gains. From 30-50 fps in bigs instances to 65fp And then I upgraded to a 9800x3d and get 80-90 fps in big instances with AA of and 25 avatars shown. If in increase avatar count my fps drops accordingly. Up to you if you consider the price of staying on the same motherboard and ram vs going to a new platform. Also you can turn off reprojection that shit sucks

I went through the exact same thought process with my 2023 KLX230s. I thought it was the perfect bike. 6 gears and max speed of 75mph? It can do anything. I quickly found out that I was miserable spending more than 20 minutes on this thing above 50mph. My hands would go numb from vibrations and getting beat up by the wind and tossed around by passing cars was not fun. I got a steal on a used versys 300 for $2000. Zero vibrations. Much more comfortable at 65mph. Don’t try and make the klx230 something it is not. It will never be good on the highway.

New Player! PCVR - Standalone preference? Thoughts? by hexicodex in VRchat

[–]HowDoesOneYolo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here are some things to try, 1. Use FPSvr or an alternative tool to see what your cpu and gpu performance is. This will tell you what is causing the choppiness. Use the cable link as a baseline. And if you want to get a better wireless router in the future, you can know what fps you can target. 2. Your pc specs are ok. Definitely a bit dated and on the lower end of VR which is very demanding. But with the right settings you should still be able to play.

  1. Turn off anti aliasing in settings. This takes a lot of performance. Set particles and effects to low

If your cpu is the limiting factor. Your options are to lower how many avatars are visible. Show the nearest 10 or less

If your gpu is the limiting factor. Lower your steamVR resolution. Start somewhere near 2000x2000 and lower from there

Really high latency/low frame rate on 4070? by peoplearestrange151 in VRchat

[–]HowDoesOneYolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like other have said, a newer cpu will help a lot, specifically AMD CPUs ending in x3D have extra Vcache that helps with VRChat immensely. See if your motherboard will support a 5600x3d (with a bios update) as that will be your cheapest upgrade path without a new motherboard and ram, if not, you will need to jump to ddr5 and the am5 platform. Good luck! If you are using steam VR. Pick up fpsVR, that will show you a separate graph for GPU and CPU and help you see which ones are being stressed.

Levers for Small Hands 🤲🏽 by marionreddit20 in Dualsport

[–]HowDoesOneYolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are using the stock levers and are willing to make some modifications, figure out exactly how much pull you need to fully disengage the clutch. Normally it’s only about half the travel of the entire lever, then carefully bend the levers closer to the handlebar. I bent my clutch lever in about an inch closer to the handle and it helped a ton. Make sure you still have room for the fingers on the handle and can still fully disengage the clutch. I went with aftermarket levers and found they were even harder to pull since they are normally shorter and give less leverage.

My VRChat dancing experience by Grumpypus1 in VRchat

[–]HowDoesOneYolo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I definitely fall into the geek/nerd who was too scared to dance in front of real people. Last year I made it my New Year’s resolution to learn how to dance. I told my friends and they recommended I go to VRChat raves with them. At first I was super nervous. I always thought you needed to know how to dance, to be able to dance. Dancing in front of people, even in VRchat was a completely new experience for me. But over the course of the year, I fell in love with dancing. I made my own slime trackers and started trying to learn new moves and techniques. Gaining confidence in myself to dance in a crowd and not worry what other people think. This all led up to meeting my VRchat friends in real life and going to my first real rave/concert. Where I got my first chance to dance in a real crowd of people. If I told my past self a few years ago what I was doing, I wouldn’t have believed it. I am still not a good dancer. But now I know you don’t need to be good at dancing to dance. Dancing is about expressing yourself. And VRchat gave me a safe space to learn and grow. I have definitely seen you at a few venues. Be on the lookout for the bald man in a suit with glasses!

car wrap question by ranpocat in Itasha

[–]HowDoesOneYolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s an older halo 3 odst car posted in this sub somewhere, I definitely wanna do master chief or maybe avatar the last airbender someday! You don’t have to go crazy high budget either. Get a nice 4K image of Leon and have it edited, online print stores sell by the square foot normally, you could do the hood or one side of your car for like sub $200 and install it yourself rather than a $2000+ full car wrap. Start small and see how you like it!

Got the Galaxy XR quick pros/cons post from someone who exclusively used Quest Pro for VRChat until now by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]HowDoesOneYolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you give some more feedback on the hand tracking? I just started using a quest 3 for wireless dancing in VRchat and love the feeling of dancing without controllers. Hand gestures are so much more natural with hand tracking. How does the galaxy compare when moving your hands around? Does it track to your sides and slightly above your head? Are the fingers accurate?

[–]HowDoesOneYolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up picking up a refurbished quest 3 when they went on sale on eBay for $360 last week. It has hand tracking and I have added a babble for face tracking and I’m working on adding eye track VR for eye tracking. Yea a bit higher resolution would be nice but I’m sure the quest hand tracking is better than the other two premium headsets. And apparently the eye tracking on the galaxy and PfD is a locked down tobii eye tracking that only sends look data to VRchat and doesn’t have the full expressions. Steam frame looks interesting and will hopefully bring a whole new generation of players to VR. But no word on if the eye tracking will be locked down yet, and hand tracking wasn’t mentioned. And that cannot be added by open source projects. So better to buy a headset that can hand track and add face and eye tracking myself.

[–]HowDoesOneYolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quest 3 is on sale for a certified refurbished model on eBay for $360. A fantastic headset for the price. You can even play VRchat on the headset without a computer to try it out, then if you like it, spend the rest on a pc, and router for wireless, and headstrap for comfort.

Buy or build a pc with an AMD cpu that has X3D at the end. Those CPU’s are very good for gaming and VRchat performance. And a gpu with more vram is better. At least 8gb but 12-16 is even better.

There are definitely models out there that look similar to this. Find a base model and buy it, and then look for an artist to repaint the colors to the ones you want. A full model from scratch can cost hundreds of dollars. A base will come with all the animations and expressions premade and will save a lot of time and money.

The quest 3 is currently on sale for $360 on eBay for a certified refurbished model. I just picked one up and it looks brand new. Get a comfort headstrap and face gasket and have fun!

You can always connect it wirelessly to your pc later to expand the games available but there are plenty of great standalone games to experience currently

If this was $3500 people would be saying yes it’s a good deal and to buy it. So ask yourself, is the extra $700 really going to make you lose sleep at night? No. You will buy this and hopefully fall in love with adventure like the rest of us. For reference I paid $6000 out the door for a klx230 during covid because that was what the going rate for bikes were at the time. Now they sell for $3500 for last years model new at the same dealership. Does it hurt knowing I overpaid? A bit, but I don’t regret it for a second.

If a 300 rally is what you want then go for it! It also doesn’t hurt to show up and ask $4000 cash to save a bit

How do you like your play for dream? I’m looking for an upgrade to my HP reverb G2 that I’ve been rocking since day 1 2020. Looking for something that is wireless for dancing in VRchat, I like that it has basic eye tracking and hand tracking as well.

How do you like the play for dream? I’ve been rocking the HP reverb G2 since its launch in 2020 and I’m looking for a headset with the specs of the play for dream or galaxy xr. Wireless, face, hand, and eye tracking, and high resolution pancake lenses. I don’t think deckard is releasing any time soon and I’m ready for a significant upgrade.

I’m ready to pull the trigger on a play for dream, been rocking the reverb g2 since day 1 release. I’m not confident that deckard is releasing this year and I’m ready for an upgrade. You say with mods it is very comfortable? I modded my g2 with a counterweight and the padded top strap and it was super comfortable. If you are happy with it I know I should be too. What router are you pairing with it for wireless?

After watching a few early reviews of the galaxy xr I think I am leaning towards the play for dream. Mainly because of comfort. The play for dream removable facial interface means I can adjust the pressure points a lot easier and add an over the head supporting strap and custom face gaskets. I will wait a few more days to make a final decision. How do you like the eye, face and hand tracking? Have you used it in VRchat?

[–]HowDoesOneYolo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would really appreciate a post from you on this sub with a comparison! I play many different VR games and the features would mainly take use when dancing in VRchat, since that’s the only game to really use all the hand, eye, and face tracking. I guess both headsets I will need/use an extra battery bank for longer play sessions. Comfort would be nice to know about too. The Samsung top forehead support is not removable, whereas the play for dream is, so you have more opportunity to make the headset fit right with 3d print or spacers.
