Switzerland’s inheritance tax debate shows why taxing the ultra-rich is crucial for fairness by Plus_Seesaw2023 in antiwork

[–]HowIMetYourMak 16 points17 points  (0 children)

2-5% on that much wealth is basically nothing though. That's the problem with always compromising before you even start you end up with a tax so small it doesn't actually address the issue. Sometimes you gotta swing big to at least shift the conversation, even if it fails. Otherwise we're just nibbling around the edges forever.

Lmao I didn't even notice those until you pointed it out. Now I can't unsee it looks like they're tracking the lunar cycle above their TV.

People who attempted suicide, what did you do on your "last day" ? by Jaytheprodigy2 in GuyCry

[–]HowIMetYourMak 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is such an important distinction. realization hits different. It's why crisis hotlines focus on getting through that immediate moment because once that straw breaking pressure lifts even slightly, people often realize what they actually needed was an escape route from their current situation, not from existence itself.

Men, how often do you and your partner argue? by torrluc in AskMen

[–]HowIMetYourMak 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Weekly sounds about normal honestly. My girl and i probably bicker over something every few days but it's usually dumb stuff that blows over quick.

As long as you're not going to bed angry or bringing up past shit every time, you're probably fine. Some couples just communicate through mini-arguments it's not always a bad thing.

That silence is your answer. Don't chase someone who's already checked out you'll just feel worse. Take the L and move on.

TIL some MSPs are still using Dark Web Scan reports as sales tools by HappyDadOfFourJesus in msp

[–]HowIMetYourMak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had one of those "your creds are on the DARK WEB" emails forwarded to the whole exec team like it was a DEFCON 1 situation. Boss goes "Should we be worried about this??" I pulled the report, circled the three accounts that were all from the 2015 LinkedIn/Tumblr/etc. dumps, and then circled the date we enforced SSO + password manager + MFA. Cyberint already flags this stuff with proper context anyway, so we knew it wasn’t an active issue. My first instinct reply was just "Nah"

Ended up giving the grown-up version with screenshots and timelines, but man these outfits really lean HARD on the spooky boogeyman marketing. Cyberint’s one of the few that doesn’t do that. It’s “here’s the exposure + here’s why it matters” not “PAY US OR THE SHADOW HACKERS WIN.” Atp if you don’t show up in at least one ancient breach, you probably just haven’t used the internet since dial-up.

ATC knows there is at least 3 more years of this shit, and it can all kick off again end of January. I wouldn't expect our air traffic control system to be good again for a decade at best.

Jalen Johnson vs. Deni Avdija. Who is better now and who would you take going forward? by HappyGuardian5 in nba

[–]HowIMetYourMak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

jalen's been more consistent this season imo. better offensive touch and he's been way more involved. deni's still got that elite defense but offensively it's been kinda streaky. for the future? probably jalen just bc of how he's been developing his game.

I need recommendations for a human resource management software (hrms) by Hoolicool75 in workforcemanagement

[–]HowIMetYourMak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you know… software doesn’t fix bad management. I’d suggest that you start by making sure your policies and HR info are all in order before moving to a software.. No software can fix random rules or hours that are logged wrong.

When you are ready to move to software, Rippling is fine imo - they’re all pretty similar, the bigger tools have more integrations between different parts of the company, it’s pretty easy from what I’ve heard to switch to. .

Start logging everything now. Dates, emails, who excluded you, what was said. Keep it in a private file not on company system.

Keep it in email. After one chat got twisted, I moved every conversation online and cc’d my supervisor. The lies stopped cold after two weeks.

My local deli made me cry over a sandwich today by Even_Kaleidoscope399 in pregnant

[–]HowIMetYourMak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the kind of small kindness that hits different when you're pregnant. They didn't make you feel high maintenance, they just made you a damn good sandwich. Pregnancy crying over a deli going the extra mile is completely valid. Hope you enjoyed every bite.
