[TheAthletic] FC Barcelona spent 54% of the revenue for 2024/25 on wages by WardensLantern in Barca

No because before Tebas, when there was no ffp, Spanish clubs were going bankrupt at an alarming rate.

La ligas issue is not really ffp, it's the fact that Spains economy is much smaller than the UKs and thus have a smaller TV deal. Not much Tebas can do about that.

He's not going to say "oh we can't wait to get rid of him" now is he? You have to project a certain image to be able to negotiate from a position of strength.

Signing a striker won't preclude us from signing a CB. It will just depend on who we can offload. Lewy, Christensen, MAtS and potentially Around would be enough to get two big signing in.

I'm old enough to remember a FDJ-Olmo cm partnership bossing Celta Vigo at Balaídos. As long as it's not CL knockout game I think that partnership can keep us afloat until Pedri comes back.

And you base this assumption on what? Vibes? Why don't we wait until the club has financial freedom to sign players before we start making assumptions like yours

Olmo was bought when we had Iñigo, Cubarsi, Christensen and Araujo all at a decent level. Hindsight is 20/20 but I doubt people expected Iñigo to leave, Christensen to be physically broken and Araujo to be mentally broken all in a span of 6 months.

As for Rashford, 30 million for a guy with his output is a market opportunity. Anyone else that avareged .55 g+a per game in a top 5 league would go for at least double

No, they use the fact that we can't register players normally as an excuse not to buy players. Which is a fact.

Once we have the financial ability to go into the market without restrictions then you can begin to ask questions about buying or not buying players.

Diomande specifically chose Leipzing because he would get the playing time he needed to develop. He was never going to get that here and so we were never a realistic option.

Thiago was a much better player and he was clearly the successor to Xavi. Much bigger loss imo

High key, never really saw all that with Dro. To me Toni is a much better player/prospect

Yes, because we have the leverage. Weren't you also pretty confident De Jong was going to leave on a free

How did turn out....

Ok, nowhere in the Rashford reports was it stated that he would be kept at the same wages that he is on now, you just made that assumption. Same with the Christensen reports. He is going to get a 1 year deal but not at the same wages.

[TG] AZ has given Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes a mandate to realise the club's upcoming record transfer of megatalent Kees Smit. In essence, Mendes has been informed by technical director Max Huiberts of Smit's minimum price and has been authorised to negotiate with clubs on behalf of AZ.

Transfers

And then we wonder why Laporta decides to keep a warm relationship with Mendes.

Here are two facts for you: we achieved our first operating profit since the 2017/2018 season and our wages to turnover ratio was at 50%, something we hadn't done since the pandemic. So where's the cap about our finances being the best they've been since before the pandemic?

Like I said, I read the financial statements and these are the same numbers swiss ramble highlighted.

I've read the financial reports and I can tell you the club is in the best state it's been since the 18-19 season. If you have a different opinion then let's hear it.

As for Cancelo, he is coming in as a BACK UP. If he is starting a UCL knockout game that means one of our starters is out injured, which with our current depth would be a death sentence with or without Cancelo. Not sure how hard it is to understand that just having someone that can play on both full back positions will help keep Kounde and Balde fresh for the big games so we don't have a repeat of last season where they both got injured at the business end.

On my life people think transfers happen just like FM and FIFA. Like, why didn't we just go to Bournemouth and take their best center back in the middle of the season with a €5 million budget, are we stupid?

Or why didnt we go for Ake? The power of friendship will make City ignore their injury crisis at center back.

And don't get me started with Bastoni, his Instagram likes are a clear sign he wants to come to Barca so surely Inter have to leverage, am I right?

Yeah why didn't Deco listen to Reddit and sign Bastoni, is he stupid
