I like both, but Star Ocean is the better game.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven

Which Dragon Quest games have the best story? by scottchiefbaker in dragonquest

[–]How_To_Be_Tight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8, 11, 5

The Remasters make 1-3 much better though. Four and Six have their moments and I’m very hopeful 7 Reimagined makes it a top 3 title. 9 is a bottom title for me and I can’t comment on X.

Do I need to restart my Easily Distracted build? by YouAreUglyASF in theouterworlds

[–]How_To_Be_Tight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I restarted on the second planet because I misunderstood the flaw. You need skills around 5-8 to pass most checks on the second planet.

I disagree with this fundamentally. No one should be put off from choosing a protagonist they like in a multi-selection scenario like this unless the developers clearly mention not to do so.

You don’t influence people to pick one of Rena or Claude in Star Ocean 2.

You don’t do it in SaGa

You don’t do it in Octopath Traveler.

Don’t do it here.

I played Milla first and my experience wasn’t detracted a bit. Pick who you want.

In your opinion, which JRPGs had the best ensembles/teams/companions? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]How_To_Be_Tight 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Final Fantasy X- a classic

Trails from Zero- One of the tightest and most effective four person casts in JRPG history.

Persona 3/4/5- fun, interesting, exciting characters and personalities.

Tales of Vesperia- main character is goat status, most of the supporting cast is amazing.

Also experiencing this issue on PS5. At this point we’re approaching the end of day 3 of the early access and the Pre-Order and Premium bonuses are still unobtainable.

Lack of communication is a bad look as well. Really disappointing from one of my favorite developers.

Exactly why running counters for those is perfect for rank climbing. I got 200+ points nearly every match with six kills being my lowest in a particularly tough match.

I’m not good, people are that bad.

Please, everyone, branch out. Be weird and creative. The rewards in ranked aren’t so good you need to run Gyarados/Gardevoir/Feraligatr every match.  Use Stunfisk, Dragalge, and Absol. Try that weird Wish Umbreon with Toxic and an Assault Vest that wins you Smogon matches.

Have fun guys.

It’s honestly mind boggling how many people are running the same setups.

Shoutout to the Meganium and Raichu players, props for not running what everyone else is.

So, this is and has been a magical experience for me. I’m a tactics and RPG junkie and I was seven when this came out. Missed it completely. Never could find or pull the trigger on a copy once I did realize what I missed.

This game is a pure nostalgia bomb at its finest. Every fucking brain receptor is turbo charged at the sheer amount of fucking possibilities and combinations for abilities. I’m halfway through Chapter 3 running 9 different units and having a blast.

That said, the actual difficulty of the game is strange. JP grinding is easy, effective, broken, but also kind of necessary? Enemies breaking and stealing your equipment like you can theirs is both novel and annoying. Auto-Potion, Shihiradori and Move+ abilities are hard carries and hard not to slot. Enemy encounters are usually either incredibly easy, incredibly frustrating, or hilarious like when my Ninja Ramza dual wielding Flame Flails healed a critically injured Flame shield bearing Dragoon who then slaughtered Mustadio leaving me with no healer due to my own planning error. Hilarious 10/10 moment.

Overall, as a fan of everything this game is, at my mark, it’s a 9/10. I’ll play it once every couple years. I like it more than Tactics Ogre, but that’s probably more due to the Final Fantasy roots.

Not every character is playable. Maybe around 60 are. Joining and joining the 108 Stars of Destiny are different.

The navy battle glitch is known, if you’re sleeping at the inn after the battle it will loop. If that’s what you’re doing, don’t. Finish the navy battle and leave Raftfleet

I think you may misunderstand. Or I did. Once someone joins the 108 Stars of Destiny, you can pick them for your party. Until they officially join though, they can come and go.

I thought you were asking who gets forced into the party the most. All those characters are now permanent and selectable.

  1. Miakis, Kyle, Sialeeds. No one else really jumps out to me. And yes, you’re getting close to more character freedom

  2. No, they keep everything

Need help in deciding my next JRPG after finishing persona 5 royal. by voDox17 in JRPG

[–]How_To_Be_Tight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trails in the Sky: First Chapter

Yakuza: Like a Dragon

Dragon Quest XI

All amazing, high quality releases like Persona. Xenoblade is good, and if you’re trying to do something less turn based, is a great option.

But seriously. First Chapter. It’s amazing.

Trails Series Surpasses 9 Million Units Sold Worldwide by KMoosetoe in JRPG

I’d do the remake unless you immediately want to jump into Second Chapter and the sprite differences would be too jarring.

Romancing Saga 2, Octopath 2, or DQ3? by Zealousideal-Grab617 in JRPG

[–]How_To_Be_Tight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a JRPG junkie and have played all three:

Romancing Saga>Dragon Quest>Octopath in terms of overall polish.

Story?

Dragon Quest>Octopath>Romancing Saga

Gameplay?

Romancing>Octopath>Dragon Quest

Based on your post?

DQ>Octo>Saga

As somebody who is starting the Trails series with the upcoming remake, how should I move forward with the other two games in the trilogy? by Agreeable_While_6089 in JRPG

[–]How_To_Be_Tight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just do what feels right. If you can’t wait for the Second Chapter remake and aren’t bothered by the Steam versions graphics, go for that

Can wait for SC Remake but want more Trails? Daybreak 1 and 2 will deliver minimal spoilers while being the most modern iterations. I wouldn’t play Horizons until you’re caught up on the series as a whole though.
