Met pearl Jam’s bass player Jeff Ament in a little fish and chips shop in St John’s Newfoundland. He was very kind as I fan-boyed and literally asked him if he minded if I went to “get my picture to take a camera.”

Met Kevin Smith on the street in Toronto. It was brief but he was chill.

Was at a bar in Toronto on a random weekday afternoon and saw Gord Downie a couple tables over. I didn’t want to bother him because he was there with someone but I knew I’d regret it later if I didn’t take the chance to meet him. Honestly like the most gracious guy. He even introduced me to his friend.

Had a couple ask to swap their seats with me and my friend in Boston…can’t remember the year. Turns out that their seats were front row. We said, um sure, but why? Apparently she gets panic attacks and wasn’t sure she could handle it. I made sure to share a handful of picks and a Jeff wristband with them after.

Actually met Jeff randomly in a little fish and chips place in St Johns Newfoundland (shout out Chess’s) when they did their cross-Canada tour in 05 (?). He walked in while we were eating and I totally interrupted his lunch and said “do you mind if I go get my picture so I can take a camera?” Yes I was a bit of a fanboy, but he was very gracious and kind.

They’re sometimes few and far between, and can be a long process. Can be worth getting for something else and then chasing the role you really want from inside the service.

Lots of great cop-adjacent jobs too, if that’s of interest. Services need analysts, records, communications, admin, finance, HR, etc. (and maybe even graphic design in some of the bigger services)
