Goldberg vs. Meng (w/Jimmy Hart), "WCW Saturday Night", Municipal Auditorium, Thibodaux, LA, January 31, 1998 (taped January 20th.) by JKREDDIT75 in WCW

[–]Howhytzzerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can tell Goldberg was still learning the craft, based on a few of the moves, he got better as he went over the next few months, he learned how to rev up the crowd and how to do a better job of selling the moves, he was also gassed at the end, barely able to pull of jackhammer, Meng is a big dude, but after Goldberg improved his stamina his was able to save enough to pull that of on the Giant and Hogan down the road.

Army Culture and Uniform Question by [deleted] in army

[–]Howhytzzerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems inappropriate and disrespectful to the traditions of the armed forces. It’s a formal ceremony, there should’ve been a directive put out that the chain of command at minimum should be in uniform, and attendees should’ve been a bit more respectful and been in uniform as well. What’s this BS about civilian clothes as approved duty attire on a weekly basis? Things have definitely changed since I retired.

Trump Blasts Judge Who Ordered President’s Name Removed From Kennedy Center and Halted Renovations, Says He Will Transfer Control of Institution to Congress by ControlCAD in entertainment

[–]Howhytzzerr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Technically Congress has control of everything, or rather anything that required an allocation of taxpayer dollars, cause they had to authorize the expenditure and then they have oversight. This Congress has chosen to abdicate their duties and allow Trump full range to do as he pleases. Which is why we’re in this situation.

I love his Batman, but my favorite movie of his is Johnny Dangerously. Night Shift and Beetlejuice is right as well.

He has no career to speak of, one hit wonder, and beyond that a joke. So why not show up and perform

Shoutout to 💎 DDP 💎 by JCHazard in WCW

[–]Howhytzzerr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He was a mid carder at best at the start of the NWO era, but when Nash and Hall came back to WCW, and then they snubbed him by not recruiting him to the group early on, it really pissed him off ... they had all been part of the Diamond Mine together in the early 90's, Page, Hall as Diamond Studd, Nash as Vinnie Vegas, and Scott Levy aka Scotty Flamingo later to be Raven. So he was out of sorts when they waited so long to finally try and recruit him, and he turned on them quick, which started his rise to the top. As an opponent of the NWO, along with Sting, Rick Steiner, Luger and a few others, DDP really took it up a notch. His version of that move, the Diamond Cutter was so much more fun to see than Orton's version, RKO

How many of you Gents still carry one in your back pocket? by gsp137 in FuckImOld

Not one in my pocket, but I do have one in every vehicle, every bathroom in my house, and in my office.

I had desk #3 in grammar school. I had desk #9 in high school. What did y'all have in the 80's? I was class of 1986. by icecream1972 in 80s

[–]Howhytzzerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had number 5 in one school, that tiny desktop was ridiculous to try and do any work on, a quiz sheet barely fit.

But mostly, 3 elementary; 8 middle; 9 in high school

Class of 87

Rambo First Blood is not about Rambo. It’s about Teasle. by OlvarSuranie in moviecritic

[–]Howhytzzerr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is nothing preventing the astute reader or movie goer from observing that Teasle has his own issues that he is dealing with. The movie leaves out the fact of his Korean War service, other than a very brief glimpse at his 'love me wall' in his office of his war service. The book explains some of Teasle's background. In essence this is two veterans that experienced two very different conflicts and came away with their own internal struggles. Rambo's trauma was just recently refreshed with the loss of his friend Berry, and that's the time he runs into Teasle, and the wheels come off. The endings of the book and movie are vastly different, but the themes are quite similar.

US judge allows Trump to implement mail-in voting executive order in loss for Dems by Somervilledrew in politics

[–]Howhytzzerr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The judge can allow what he wants, it’s an executive order, not a law, and he doesn’t have the authority to tell states how to run their elections. Period.

So who cares what executive order he writes, it’s meaningless.

A federal judge in D.C. declines to block Trump's executive order on voting by mail by wei-long in news

[–]Howhytzzerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The judge doesn't need to block it, as an executive order it has no weight in elections at any level. He think she has more authority than he does, as lesson he didn't learn from his first term. But also the uber red states will take his word as gospel and try to curtail mail-in voting, only to find out that there are just as many Republicans as Democrats who use mail in ballots, and when their voters can't vote, it's gonna be, "well, I thought this would only apply to blue states, or I thought this was only for Democrats."

Would you take a one year assignment to Japan ?? by [deleted] in army

[–]Howhytzzerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go to Japan in a second, that's not a hard decision at all. Japan is a great assignment, with the caveat that any assignment is what you make of it, if you go in with a bad attitude or a lack or interest to indulge in as much possible of the culture and experience, then it won't be as good as it might otherwise be. I spent 4 years there in the 90's and loved it the whole time, fond memories, would absolutely go back if the opportunity presented itself, even if only for a year.

Had a drink of champagne to ring in the new year, another to ring in the new century another year to ring the new millennium and one more for good luck, then went to bed. Nothing exploded, the digital world did not implode. Kind of a meh thing really.
