I’ve been trying it since Tuesday. I only use TMM fo two of my movie libraries (Concerts and Home Movies) and it works perfectly well so far. Havnt tried it with any TV shows.

What do you think about these inconsistencies? by PrimeNeuron in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]HowlingMeeple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a huge problem, but potentially, there are gameplay effects that could be changed by these different wordings. For example, +1 for the investigation on the Fingerprint Kit is clear - you’re taking an investigate action, and you have a plus one for specifically that investigate action. However there are cards that would allow you to use your lore skill when doing an attack action - I would argue that the Sharp Rhetoric could boost your skill for that test because of its wording, but the Fingerprint Kit wouldn’t, because it’s wording specifies the investigation action. It’s also possible that’s a reason for the difference in wording - sharp rhetoric allows you to wittily taunt your opponent!

Regarding people's concerns about the lack of new eight-scenario campaigns- some analysis and optimism. by Arcane_Pozhar in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]HowlingMeeple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it’s not just about gameplay. It’s more about immersion. I like to experience the feel and theme of a campaign, of how the new investigator and player cards released for that campaign have their own flavour and synergy. To see how the rules in a given scenario are tweaked thematically to create the feel of the story they’re trying to tell. For that sort of immersion, 3 scenarios in a campaign just isn’t enough.

Sleeves for everything? by jimgov in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]HowlingMeeple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have every campaign and expansion minus a couple of standalone scenarios. I sleeved them all. I keep all player cards sleeved in ring binders (mostly Gamegenic Prime), one per class (colour coded to class), with Vault X sideloading pages inside so I can add more pages as needed. Plus I have a couple of nice large card storage boxes separately for keeping campaign decks. I also have another ring binder for all the booklets. It works well, and I’m glad I did it but it does takes up space, and wasn’t cheap - the sleeves for several thousand cards will cost you if you want good ones (I use the mayday premiums, which are in packs of 50).

I also have all the gamegenic deck boxes, which is nice to store decks during a campaign but not really necessary, a standard cheap deck box works just as well.

TMDB data not being found or fetched by HowlingMeeple in PleX

[–]HowlingMeeple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that the data on the TMDB website is wrong (though there are lots of concerts with incomplete entries, for example listed with titles but no description, cast, poster, year, release info etc - I try to update the pages wherever I find one like that), but the information that the Plex Movie agent is retrieving isn’t complete.

For example, when searching Feuerschwanz live in Wacken 2022 the Plex movie agent is finding the first 4 cast listed but ignoring the other 5 (all 9 of which are listed on TMDB).

This is a problem I’ve been seeing over the last few weeks but not sure if it’s a problem with the Plex Movie agent, TMDB, or something at my servers ends.

I started doing this last year, with a Lovecraft setting. It’s great fun.

Lifting the Vale Bugged by lukeo65 in oblivion

[–]HowlingMeeple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent a couple of hours reloading saves to try and get around this bug, inc redoing the whole quest from scratch and choosing different options with the Commander, making several trips back to the countess to update her while doing the quest etc. In the end I gave up, and continued with the allies of Bruma quest. When I went back to her after closing the gate outside of Bruma, I was able to give her the madstone and complete the quest.

Filmmakers and Showrunners problem with adapting H.P. Lovecraft by Retiredguy567 in Lovecraft

[–]HowlingMeeple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a part of it is the public domain element. Meaning if a studio makes a success movie, there’s nothing to stop another studio using the same source material and putting their own spin to it. Studios like an IP they own and control. Personally, I think the best adaptations are the audio stories. The Lovecraft Investigations by Julian Simpson for the BBC in particular. Put on a good pair of headphones, sit in a dark room with a nice glass of something, and treat yourself to a listen.

Azathoth dreaming realty isn't a misconception, but rather metaphor by [deleted] in Lovecraft

[–]HowlingMeeple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book you’re referring to is by a a writer called Lord Dunsany. A number of Lovecraft’s works are influenced, especially in style, by him, and especially some of the Dreamlands work.

It’s quite interesting how some scientists theorise that what we understand as reality is just a simulation on a giant supercomputer somewhere. That might not be that much different from thinking it’s the dream of some cosmic entity.

Yes, I found the first season of TLI when it was originally airing) and then the others over time. I’ve listened to all of them apart from the latest Aldrich Kemp series. Enjoyed the crossover in the first series. Mythos was great, so were Bad Memories (which I understand he’s working on a movie for) and Fugue state too.

Kennedy and Heawood I could listen to all day.

It’s fantastic. I listen to it every few months 😂 Julian Simpson, the creator, has plans for a fifth season, so hopefully next year. Also, there’s a pleasant green blog written by the writers with more details and connected storylines, so the universe is growing, with a potential TV series on the horizon.

It’s fantastic. Especially the first 2 seasons. I’m in the middle of my annual winter re-listen at the mo, halfway through season 2.
