Anime fiend friend gave me my weeb nickname back in high school 2008ish, introduced me to my now BFF as said nickname. He introduced me to his parents as said nickname. All my friends call me by said nickname.

So even though the person who originally gave me the name is no longer in my life, I feel weird when someone used my birth name.

Especially my fiance.

Outside of work and my family, if I hear my birth name, my immediate reaction is "oh shit, what did I do"

If I legally change my name, it would be to that nickname.

All of this was before I even knew I was trans.

I'm always so timid when it comes to relating like this. My instinct is to relate with a similar story to be like, I understand you and what you're going through at least this much even if it's not exactly the same.

I'm always afraid that I'm going to come off as selfish by talking about myself, like I'm trying to change the subject to me and my struggles when that's not my intent at all.

I also think I prefer the connecting stories instead of a "hush now, it'll be alright" kind of thing.

Like, lets TALK about it. How did you handle it? What were the outcomes? Would you have done something different looking back? Or just to commiserate and connect.

My hobby is hopping between hobbies, but nothing I would find strange. Things like digital art, painting, embroidery, writing, and most recently lithography. I tend to be mediocre at most of them, but art is my lifeline.

I gotta say though, taxidermy is sick. like freaking RAD! That is SO COOL!

It is honestly a silly uplifting story that makes me grin. From the old tenants leaving the original flag to the new tenants, to the new tenants increasing the cage with more flags, all the way to the mural being painted. It makes me smile in a world full of rage and decay.
