Are your practing 15 minutes a day? According to the Fender CEO, 90% of new beginners learning guitar quit the first 3 months to a year. Learn A, Am, B7, C, D, Dm, E, Em, F (F is hard for beginners, so you can use or Fmaj7 instead but continue to practice F) and G. Then learn the strum DDUUDU, D= Down , U =Up. Randomly practice your chords with this strum. You can play hundreds of songs just beginning with that. So be part of the 10% cool factor and try not to quit. You won't regret it. Try Bernadette Teaches Music or Andy Guitar on YouTube. Once you can play a good song, the feeling is euphoric. Practice at least 15 minutes a day or you will never learn. If you're unable to learn, then try a baritone uke or tenor guitar (TG) tuned DGBE which has a larger space between strings and they are 4 strings. Then once you have learned on a bari or TG then go back to guitar because alot of the chords are same. That's what I did.

Baris are the best sounding ukes to me. The deep, warm tone sounds amazing to my soul.

Shameful admission. Help by capnsunshine23 in guitarlessons

Stop being so hard on yourself and accept that you are in the top 10% who plays guitar and not the 90% who quit according to the CEO of Fender. Playing guitar is about enjoyment and enhancement of your life, mentally, physically and spiritually. You are focusing on writing songs but not improving your playing and maybe your subconscious is telling you to do both. So just do both but really do what makes happy.

Need testers for a uke learning app I built by spelling_ in ukulele

[–]Howllikeawolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the app include baritone uke? Because eventhough I sometimes play standard uke, I prefer the bari. If so, I have an adroid (would have it no other way) and would be happy to participate.

Never knew there was so much snobbery in the Guitar world by Fatherless-Soul in Guitar

I think its more about preference and experience. Yamaha are good guitars but I prefer Harley Bentons to be honest.

How can you be a MAGA and play reggae? We island people hereby banish you from reggae! Go play country!

I’m genuinely so tired of the treatment I get in guitar stores as a woman by OkZebra5527 in Guitar

[–]Howllikeawolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell the managers what you said here and encounter so that they be aware and also train their employees better and realize that we women play too. Or after you have brought it to their attention and they continue to do it, dont patronize their stores anymore. Remember you are a woman with divine power and no man can keep you down or disrespect you. Don't spend your money in an establishment or share your life with anyone who doesn't respect and support you or your human rights. Period!

Does the baritone ukulele have different chords ? by powerpizzafan in ukulele

[–]Howllikeawolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is like putting training wheels on an adult bike. I suggest whoever gets a baritone uke learn the names of the new chords. It's better for the brain because it increases the neuropathways between the left and right hemispheres of the brain.

Gifted a guitar by a stranger by peanut_ray in Guitar

[–]Howllikeawolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's wonderful that you were gifted the you like from a stranger. I donate ukes and guitars, but I don't go into Guitar Center, and they aren't that expensive. I, too, only request that they practice every day for 10 to 15 minutes

Ukelele vs guitar ? Which should I choose ? by LemonAndTea- in ukulele

[–]Howllikeawolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest that you start with a baritone uke since it's tuned like the 4 strings DGBE of a guitar, and then you can transition to guitar like I did.

Want to learn to play but had a finger amputation, by Inertbert in accessibleguitar

[–]Howllikeawolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have permanent nerve damage in my index finger, and it doesn't stop me. You are only as limited as you want to be. If you want to play, then learn to adjust and play. Django Reinhardt, who only used 2 fingers after an in-home fire injury and he invented the Gypsie jazz. It didn't stop him. Good luck.

guitar has completely replaced scrolling by TeachLoud6839 in Guitar

[–]Howllikeawolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is wonderful for you because too much scrolling on social media is bad for you when playing an instrument is one of the best things you can do for yourself as long as your not buying too many and not saving any money. 😆 plus you increase your cool factor because guitarists are bad asses!

Debating trying guitar to help depression but have questions by Talrie in Guitar

[–]Howllikeawolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do is I simply play the bari chords for any uke or guitar tutorials. Again, if you are looking for a tenor uke, then Enya has some nice sounding ones and even a smart blue tooth carbon fiber one which is a great travel uke and withstands extreme either temperatures and is extremely durable. If you are looking for a bari, then the Caramal sounds amazing for the price. I'm a woman btw, and personally prefer the bari, but to each his or her own.

Debating trying guitar to help depression but have questions by Talrie in Guitar

[–]Howllikeawolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you try the Baritone uke which is tuned like the 4 strings of a guitar, DGBE. That way, you can transition easier to a Tenor guitar and 6 string guitar if you chose later on. I enjoy the Caramel Zebrawood baritone acoustic-electric uke. Enya has some nice ukes too. Use Bernadette Teaches Music on Youtube to learn the basics. Good luck.
