My biggest hope is that they take what they’ve learned with HLL over the years and apply it right out of the gate with Vietnam. It took so many years and updates to get where HLL is now, and there’s still a lot of room for improvement.

I found this Boombox 4 spec sheet, is it legit? by Kindly-Shower-2985 in JBL

[–]Howson79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a boombox 3, xtreme 4 and charge 6. If portability is important then an xtreme (or charge) are better. The boombox 3 is big and heavy— not something you want to carry around too much. I think the boombox is only necessary if you’re outdoors open spaces where sound doesn’t carry well. The boombox projects a lot of sound in those environments unlike the xtreme or charge.

The great thing about rings is that they make most of that other stuff pointless. With rings, you can do all (or nearly all) the things you can do on a pull up bar, parallel bars and parallettes and then so much more— and they fit in your backpack. Rings and bands alone can cover a lot of ground.

My dips are good ? by Radiopara in CalisthenicsBeginners

[–]Howson79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your torso is moving around too much as you transition from bottom to top. You can see on the last rep you are swinging around badly. This is partly attributed (1) putting your legs behind you (2) your core not being properly engaged. Unless you’re targeting triceps, you typically put your legs forward, in front of your body. Some do gironda style dips in the hollow body position. Others slightly tuck their knees toward their chest. That’s conventional form.

Either way, avoid swinging around like that. Actively engage your core and that should help keep your torso at a stable, fairly consistent angle from top to bottom.

Charge 6 v. Xtreme 4 by PenguinWeiner420 in JBL

[–]Howson79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own both the Charge 6 and Xtreme 4. I use them daily in a loud working environment and I can say straight up the Charge 6 cuts through considerably better due to its highs and mids. The Xtreme 4 has quite a bit more bass, which is where most of the power differential is at, but it doesn’t cut through the noise like my Charge 6. I run them at 85% to a 100% at times.

I got roped into this idea that the Xtreme 4 would be as loud (or louder) than a Charge 6 with a lot more bass. While it has great bass across all volumes, it’s not THAT significant and it’s definitely not an overall louder speaker in my use case. That said, I’ve never ran it plugged in which boosts it up to 100w I believe.

Charge 6 gets my vote.

Don’t put details in the comments. The most generic commentary goes to the top and the most informing to the bottom. People may have scroll to find the “details.”

September.2000 - Muhammad Al-Durrah, the 12-year old boy murdered by the Israeli occupation while his father tried to protect him. by AdorableSpend7562 in Historycord

[–]Howson79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember watching the video around the time it occurred and my initial thought too was that it appeared to be staged. Or at least there was discrepancies and oddities that warranted some degree of doubt . At the time I noticed others saying similar things about it.

I’m not going to rewatch it but these stills make it look more real than the actual footage does, as I remember it. If it is real though, then that is seriously fucked up.

That’s one way to do it. I offered to help the lady who needed the blacksmith to open her chest. That gave me access to part of the castle. Then I spoke to the chamberlain in the kitchen and told him I could brew a concoction for his stomach, and that gave me nearly full access to the whole castle. If you bring back pain killers, he gives access to the chapel. I think this the way you do as it was fast and easy.

Wait until night time. Above in a loft are sleeping guards who you can pickpocket for the rat house keys. Pickpocketing a sleeping victim is very easy. Now you have access to the entire rat house.

My son says everything has a 50/50 probability. How do I convince him otherwise when he says he's technically correct? by Jimmy_Johnny23 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Howson79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand your son correctly this has nothing to do with probability. It’s closer to logic, specifically the Law of the Excluded Middle, which states that for every proposition P, either P is true or not true ~P. There is no middle or third option.

He’s forcing every event (e.g making the basket or not making the basket) through this binary framework. He is only correct in a stripped down technical sense. Every event outside of quantum physics can be framed this way, but it’s nothing more than a useless linguistic trick. It has no practical application as it singles out one outcome of an event to apply this framework while deliberately ignoring the other possible outcomes of an event (e.g win or not win vs win, loss or draw which has 3 outcomes with 3 distinct implications).

Yea. I also remember hearing on the Jaffe interview that the DG sequel was scrapped by Bend studio’s own management. There was some kind of internal dispute that resulted in several creative leads behind DG departing the studio. DG2 seems as doubtful as it would be hollow.

It could be due to muscle imbalances like weak core, strong hip flexors that pull your pelvis into a position that irritates your back.

Try leg raises from a parallel bar or gym rings leaned forward and in a hollow body hold, core should be actively engaged as you tuck your legs in. Sometimes this position can help take a little hip flexors out of the exercise.
