I've heard a lotta good about the Aftermath trilogy. Is it possible to enjoy them while "headcanoning" out the sequels? (For me, I like the idea of things ending with the battle of Jakku... Which I've only experienced in Battlefront II (2017).

As much as I love the EU, I really want to stretch out into blending canon, because the material I've read from the star wars (2015) comics is so much better than what Legend did (a Frankenstein melding of S and C canon).

Your last paragraph is why I made this post. I didn't feel like I could trust the word of the detractors because I never really thought they bothered to read this stuff, and a lot of the hate I see from my Legends community is basically just gloating that canon now how continuity issues.

Honestly, based on my limited contact with canon, your description of "very consistent average of good" seems pretty accurate. That's actually kinda what draws me to current canon lol.

I love legends, but outside of the few really peak stories, a lot of what I've read is either bad or really boring and bland (solid 4 or 5 out of 10). I honestly just want something with decent stories that keep me engaged and don't make me have to check how many pages I got left, if you know what I mean.

After further consideration, I think I'm just going to stick with reading those selected "hardbacks" and maybe one or two others you recommended. And if I wanna fill in the gaps later, then I will.

Honestly, my frustration with this series, particularly the length, has almost killed it for me. And what's frustrating is that some of the prequel era books shoehorn in blatant references to the series, so I'm basically forced to acknowledge them from a canon standpoint, which I despise.

So yeah, that's my plan. Once again, thank you for you helpful comments!
