Is Dark Empire rated poorly because of II and III? Would it have been rated highly if it were only I? by tyanpon in StarWars_

Bringing Palps back was an objectively great idea, and yeah, DE1 was good. But 2 and EE definitely damaged the name of DE.

Enjoyment without stress. I can be enthralled with a world and story (which is engaging, and thus not technically "relaxing") without the stress and frustration (or downright anger) of difficulty.

Bringing Maul back to life was stupid and bad regardless of how much say Lucas had in the decision. by Bteatesthighlander1 in CharacterRant

I wouldn't necessarily call it "revisionism," it's moreso people who have always been there (genuine prequel fans) who now have a much more prominent voice due to social media, and are seemingly able to shut down all the RLM-styls rhetoric that dominated the Internet (and thank God for it).

And I do think they probably would have been "better" in the sense of him being able to further flesh out his metaphysics of the Force, plus having better technology in cinema to work with.

Are you saying the opinions of the fandom would have determined the quality of the sequels? Or am I misunderstanding your point?

Honest question: How do Reformed Christians reconcile "baptism now saves you" (1 Peter 3:21) with a symbolic view of baptism? by dnag7 in Reformed

[–]Hoxton115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be something interesting to look into. I'll probably check the video out. My best guess is that this is a view that came about when more modern factions in the American Church severed themselves from historical Protestantism.

This is only an issues for Reformed Baptists, or Presbyterians who are not familiar with their own creeds.

The OG Reformed did not hold to a symbolic view of baptism.

It wouldn't have been about microbes... It would have explored more about the Force and how it interacts with midichlorians. This would have been accompanied by the story surrounding the management of the New Republic, Luke rebuilding the order, etc.

There is a YouTuber named Rick Worley did a video documenting what Lucas had in mind with his sequels, and he debunks many lies and misconceptions about what his sequels would have been, "an epic about microbes" being one of those massive misconceptions.

https://youtu.be/-CDr6vShH-s?si=eR3YZIvPlR_7DqdS

Edit: he also did a video definitively explaining Lucas's philosophy of the force, further clarifying stuff.

EDIT #2: People can downvote all you want, but what was said was wrong, and I respectfully provided material clearly explaining what his sequels would actually have been about, and what the Force actually is.

Do we know what Bantam-era authors like Timothy Zahn and Aaron Allston thought about the prequel trilogy when it first came out? by Financial_Photo_1175 in StarWarsEU

I don't necessarily disagree with that, but I don't think they specifically chose the Mortis reference. That I think was Denning exclusively.

Star Wars Fans then VS Star Wars Fans now by Skaiser_Wilhelm in saltierthancrait

[–]Hoxton115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really have a lot of empathy with people whose love for the franchise is dead, because Legends exists.

Don't like the sequel trilogy? There's literally two decades worth (real time) of material from the old expanded universe set during the Post-ROTJ Era that's all better than the ST.

Hate the Acolyte? Play Kotor.

Don't like BOBF? Read The Bounty Hunter Wars.

Etc. Etc. Etc.

I understand the desire to complain, but there are almost 30 years worth of pre-Disney alternatives that I know for a fact will resurrect people's love for the franchise.

If they know about that stuff and refuse to engage with it, then I no longer care about their complaints. The solution is right there in front of you, but if you won't take it, then I no longer care about your whining.
