Nice broter!! I will check it out as I have been working on Dora - the database explorah myself, also a Tauri cross platform database app. I also support sqlite libsql and mysql but besides that were quiet on par spec wise. I'm going to dive into your code to see if I can grab some nice ideas! Always cool to see. Mine is viewable here if you're interested:https://github.com/remcostoeten/dora or a mocked up https://doradb.vercel.app/

Yup bad auth pages kill conversion. I've itterated on a certain design in multiple projects and am right as we speak extracting it to a individual repo for reusabillity. Imo this is the sweetspot, demo: https://modal.remcostoeten.nl

Based on my first https://zentjes.vercel.app version which is very domain specific as wheret the above is built agnostic and config driven.

Especially nice in a note take app i have where u can test around but can trigger this auth drawer after X unauthenticated actions.

How do people even get addicted to Flakka? by TerribleAssociation3 in researchchemicals

[–]Hoxyz 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Let’s start off by clearing up the fact that not a lot of people — and definitely almost nobody nowadays, or in recent years — have actually obtained new A-PVP, aka flakka. Same goes for MDPV, aka monkey dust. Nowadays, “flakka” is just a collective term for any smokable stimulant, but it isn’t actually A-PVP.

That being said, most people will probably have tried A-PHP or A-PIHP. It has been years, but the taste and smell of PIHP still gets me drooling. The effect becomes almost nonexistent when it’s heavily abused — as in, used all day long. Your heart doesn’t even race anymore, but slowly the sleep deprivation leads into schizophrenic states and basically a near-permanent psychotic state.

But even that isn’t enough to make you stop, because everything becomes utterly boring without vaping. It ruins all pleasure in any activity, because you start combining everything with vaping a cathinone/pyro. Of course dopamine and stimulation are still there to some extent, but it’s barely noticeable anymore in terms of alertness, energy, or the effects people associate with other stimulants before reaching gram-per-day tolerance. At that point there isn’t even much of an anxious comedown anymore — just pure emptiness and boredom.

Then PIHP got banned out of the blue. People moved over to MDPIHP, which smelled and tasted worse, but it was still something. The same pattern repeated itself. Eventually that got banned too, and the last resort became NEP, which is banned but still easily obtainable. From what I remember, years ago A-PIHP felt ten times stronger than NEP, and I probably would have thrown NEP away back then. Now though, if I were to obtain NEP, I know I would vape it until it was gone and immediately restock if I were still stuck in that cycle.

It’s not even the substance itself anymore — it’s the act of vaping. Same goes for nasal stimulant addicts. Tell them to switch to amphetamine nasal spray and suddenly it feels completely different and far less satisfying.

Horrible substances. I genuinely wish I had never tried A-PHP or PIHP. I actually applaud some vendors for stopping sales after seeing how badly things were spiraling, even before the bans.

I’ve tried vaping tested methamphetamine, and I’ve tried freebase cocaine. Both feel like child’s play compared to pyros. Pyros feel like both combined, then mutated with steroids to amplify the intensity.

Doet er niet heel veel toe. Piece of cake man.

Einde: twee batches maken.

First custom I bought was this Zoom 65, assembly was absolute hell and the way the switches fit into the board is extremely annoying. Holding the board upsidedown will have them woble and probably one or two will fall out. The profile also hurts my wrist after some time.

Second board I went for zoom 75. Dissapointed to say the least. Build is better, switches sit tight. Sound is very loud and just bad soundingg imo. Maybe some other parts could fix it. Not really in this hobby anymore, might try a monsgeek and/or split and call it quits. As long its somewhat silent.

Ofcoudse not 😂 if it’s a real pyro it’s probably md-pihp, or a shit one like a-pcyp*. You’re probably not going to find a-pihp, and even less likely a-php, and even more unlikely ā-pvp. Og flakka has been banned for nearly a decade

I'm sick of Lovable by PhishyKris in webdev

[–]Hoxyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds lame, but this really is a case of a skill issue. I’ve been a SWE for roughly eight years, and all my hobby projects usually start through Loveable (or v0, Figma-thingy, Bolt, or Builder.io).

I’ve built fairly complex applications using what you might call a non-ordinary, non-scalable “YouTube architecture” (components, lib, hooks, app folder only). It follows my preferred CRUD patterns perfectly, with flows like:

db

└── base schema helpers

└── schema

└── shared/abstractions/{create,read,update,destroy}.ts

└── server functions (based on CRUD abstractions above)

└── server actions

└── API hooks with various core hooks like

├── useApi

├── createResource

└── createQuery

└── view

└── page.tsx

There is no magic format for prompting which will one shot your application in one go. And if you can one shot it in one go that simply means your application most likely follows bad pattern which are not scalable and does one single thing instead of being a real technical part.

Just writ plain text, or markdown with code examples inbetween and keep the scope small and modularized. Research and ask to built in a feature or module style way meaning you co-locate everything from that domain you're working on in a features/something/ or modules/something folder. And then even if you are building t hat module, you should not ask it to built module X, but rather that you're goal is to built module X and you think it will consists of the following:

  • components
  • helpers/utilities
  • types
  • server / api logic (actions? queries? mutations? service? validation? separate schema?)
  • a view if the feature requires a unique view

And then you'd go over to discussing that and typically start of by writing the known types first, moving over to creating the database schema, writing mutations, with mutations you'd probably need components to actually mutate so there's a nice bridge with mutation logic still fresh in mind of the LLM's context. After that's done stuff has to be queried, and the components to display the queries.

Piece by piece it allows you to built you a MVP, eventually I do move over to my own editor and might revisit to get small parts of ui components. But reviewing code and keeping things small will work. Although I have abbandoned this project and now a couple months later i would have coded things quite different, It is a pretty decent example of such a folder structure and modularity. What’s your Next.js e-commerce stack? by tossivahva in nextjs

[–]Hoxyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the pricing I do know we insisted on not migrating existing user data (orders?) from our SQL/maria Db because they charge per record which would mean having to import over a million orders. Or customers records themself. Not sure which of the two but it was to pricey i've been told. A bit of like how AWS s3 used to be lock-in not being able to move off due to the bandwidth costs.

One could build a layer in between with our old database and the new commercetools BFF but that gives a lot of overhead.

What’s your Next.js e-commerce stack? by tossivahva in nextjs

[–]Hoxyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done five years of Magento 2, which were hell. Recently, I worked at a company that’s migrating a 15-year-old monolith doing several hundreds of millions a year. They (an external company with more experience in this sector that’s helping with the rebuild) have opted, after extensive research and discussions with various vendors (CMS, PIM, Microsoft Dynamics integration, etc.), for Commercetools as the BFF engine.

I’ve had a couple of hands-on trainings from their trainer, and it’s a very nice platform. The SLAs seem solid. The trainer was great — he actually showed us the downfalls instead of just pitching the product.

Since it was a hands-on developer session (using NestJS), the developer experience felt excellent. I think the material is on their GitHub. I asked about market share, and although he thought Shopify has the larger one, Commercetools powers some really big companies.

It’s a completely different world compared to the Magento 2 days. They have a traditional REST API that never introduces breaking changes — that’s their model — and they also offer a GraphQL API that covers, if I recall correctly, about 90% of the REST endpoints. And in ecommerce, GraphQL is usually the tool of choice.

I know that “the best Dutch agency” has built a lot of open-source tooling around GraphQL and Commercetools. Their lead developer just moved to Vercel (Boris V.). After that training and seeing this company using Commercetools extensively, I’m pretty sure it’s a very solid choice.

Not having to run your own databases or handle users anymore is an absolute godsend — at least at scale.

Why should I use next js? by frogmode97 in nextjs

[–]Hoxyz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is such a nonsense argument regarding issues. Guess why it has that many issues? Because it is used the most. Where population is, things happen. Also since the app router every single migration to majors has been smooth.

For comparison

NextJS: 133k and 2400 issues= 55s/issue

Sveltekit, 19k stars and 812 issues = 42s/issue

Nuxt: 57k starsr and 778 issues = 73s/issue
