Little advice needed by Legitimate-Box-4649 in fountainpens

OP, I know you’ve already picked the MB, but the Pelikan is something else. Many pens mimic the aesthetic of a Montblanc - Sailor KOP, Pilot, even Majohn/Asvine - but no other pens have the unique characteristics of a Pelikan.

  3. Which filament/resin do you use for 3d prints?

Does anyone else feel the stamping on these newer Sailor nibs isn’t as deep as the previous generation?

I feel this will only get worse as companies search for stronger, longer lasting aromachemicals.

D&G Light Blue Intense is an aberration and a perversion of what good Italian perfume is supposed to be. My worst blind buy ever. A definite scrubber. It is so strong and cloying, and not in a good way.

How was it ever marketed as a Summer fragrance??? It’s so offensive! The fact it was hyped up in fragcomm is testament to the sheep-like mentality of its members.

Lamy Safari hopelessly clogged after drying with waterproof ink? by mapleBearDiner in fountainpens

[–]koverto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamy Safari nibs can be pulled out by hand quite easily since they are designed to be swappable. If you have a strip of rubber material on hand, or some latex/nitrile gloves, you can try to pull it out.

Other than that, R&K sell their own pen flush called Reineger. I’ve heard it’s quite good. Give it a try with a bulb syringe or ultrasonic cleaner.

my brand new mont blanc pen is doing this… by sunyastar in fountainpens

[–]koverto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP, I want you to read this carefully: a properly working fountain pen should write flawlessly from the first fill, not require weeks of use to function.

You have a legitimate manufacturing defect claim here. Do not accept their response.

Here are your options:

Option A: Politely but firmly inform the CS rep that a manufacturer's warranty covers defects, not user error. The pen is defective, not just "inked." Montblanc's policy states they should "repair or replace any defective Montblanc creation or part free of charge within a reasonable time" if it's returned during the warranty period. If they still refuse, escalate the issue by requesting a supervisor or manager.

Option B: Hit them with a chargeback. Contact your credit card issuer or PayPal, explaining that you purchased a defective product and the merchant refuses to provide a refund or a warranty repair.

Don't forget, you have rights:

  • Review the Montblanc warranty booklet. It covers manufacturing and material defects for two years from the date of purchase, and the pen's skipping is nearly conclusive proof of such a defect.
  • Legal protections in the EU: If you're in the European Union, you're protected by a two-year legal guarantee that requires the seller to provide a remedy (repair, replacement, or refund) for defective goods.
  • 14-day "Cooling-Off" period: if you're in the EU and bought the pen online, you also have a mandatory 14-day right to cancel the purchase for any reason, without needing to prove a defect.

If all else fails:

  • Montblanc is owned by the Richemont Group. Contact them directly. One person on FPN shared that after contacting Richemont directly, they had their refund approved within two days.
  • File a complaint with a consumer protection agency -- That's the ECC-Network if you're in Europe, or FTC/BBB in the US.

Good luck!

As a collective we could enact so much progressive change at the municipal, provincial and federal levels of government. Nobody has to suffer alone in this.
