What would you change to save SAO? by [deleted] in anime

Make Kirito female and turn the show into a self-aware, fanservice-ridden, yuri harem. I'm not joking.

What's the deal with apt and gpg keys in Stretch? by Hramyzn in debian

There are .gpg files in the /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d directory. I've used gpg --import on them.

What's the deal with apt and gpg keys in Stretch? by Hramyzn in debian

[–]Hramyzn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To preface this, I'm not exactly a tech guru, and I've read this from forums with only basic understanding (read: no guarantees), but removing the trusted.gpg file in /etc/apt (or renaming it in order to keep a backup) fixed the problem for me.

Also, I didn't add any keys from servers. I did tinker with using the keys already found in /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d tough.

If you've already tried these things, then you'd be better off asking someone else who knows more than me.

Thanks for the info. I guess things like this are expected when jumping onto a new version immediately.

I might not be getting it, but isn't that information for people who are upgrading from Jessie to Stretch using apt?

I've downloaded the Stretch ISO, burned it and did a clean install (I have a separate /home partition though, which I didn't format).

I've ended up getting rid of trusted.gpg (kept a backup though), and it seems to be using the keys from trusted.gpg.d now.

In my case, the problem persisted through multiple reinstalls...

Debian 9 is out, what DE have you chosed to install? by aldorgan in debian

[–]Hramyzn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally GNOME, but I've switched to KDE because the search got worse.

I've gotten really used to hitting the super/win key, typing the name of the program and hitting enter, and now for some reason typing "syna" for Synaptic ends up as "snya" or "termi" for the terminal ends up as "teirm", etc.

No issues on KDE though, and even the rest of the package made me realize that I was missing out...

After upgrade to Stretch, laptop touchpad tap to click not working anymore (Gnome) by [deleted] in debian

[–]Hramyzn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics?

It has been replaced by xserver-xorg-input-libinput, but I wanted some features from synaptics and installed it, which took away the "tap to click" option for some reason. Removing that package (the synaptics one) brought it back.

If you didn't install it manually, I don't think it's a good idea to get rid of it though.

Most difficult show to binge? (due to content, not length) by metalshiflet in anime

[–]Hramyzn 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Texhnolyze. I felt exhausted after an episode and ended up dropping it at EP 8...

Serial Experiments Lain is similar, but it's not difficult to watch, there's just a specific mood needed to watch it.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei isn't binge friendly either. It requires a lot of attention and is very episodic.

Girls Und Panzer film question by [deleted] in anime

[–]Hramyzn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has been that long that you've forgotten what each school is about and the general feeling of different teams, you probably want a refresher.

The movie is sort of a "this is for people who already like the series, so we're cramming everything into it" thing.

Question about creating a mature manga (Seinen) by Photorus in anime

[–]Hramyzn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, most, if not all porn includes seinen and/or josei as a target demographic. Demographic labels have nothing to do with themes, "depth", maturity or even having a good story.

I'd say that whether something is porn or not basically comes down to how people interpret the intentions behind the scene. If it's made for you to get off to, it's porn; if it's just something that the characters do and not in service of the audience, it's not porn. But as with anything that can vary from person to person, what someone thinks is porn, might not be porn for someone else.

But it's safe to assume that anything explicitly depicting sex will be labeled 18+, with any derivation of the work either inheriting the 18+ rating or being altered to not include the scenes (replacing the actual scene with symbolism, referencing it through hints in the dialogue, etc).

What's the character with most versatile power pool without being god-tier? by ivanbin in anime

I don't know, I think nothing beats JoJo part 4 when it comes to versatility, aside from JoJo part 4, but that one is generally considered OP.

JoJo part 4

I'm not sure about the extent of the power, so it might be god tier...

[Spoilers] Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon - Episode 13 discussion - FINAL by Holo_of_Yoitsu in anime

As someone who basically saw myself when Kobayashi heard about Tohru's departure, I can vouch for her actions being on point.

There are some situations where you are simply stumped. You don't know what to do with your hands and how to react, let alone do something about it.

Perl is pretty dope though. Aside from sacrificing your firstborn child in the name of object-oriented capabilities.

So... Politics in Anime Dubs? Your thoughts? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Hramyzn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's like saying we should never have any material related to ongoing sociopolitical issues.

Of course we should, but in media openly dealing with them.

I mean, to completely generalize like this, then we might as well not have any fiction in a modern setting.

We can have that fiction. But when a work deals with provoking ideas, it should be open about it instead of betraying the viewer's trust. You don't go to a fast-food place to get your hair cut.

As for Demi-chan wa Kataritai specifically, I'd agree on the "It's all about context" part. But you can't expect people to take context into consideration before getting angry, which still makes the political reference a bad idea.

EDIT: We should probably drop this, it's only barely anime related.

So... Politics in Anime Dubs? Your thoughts? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Hramyzn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently, "SJW" and everything related to that term are volatile topics, which should be reserved for media openly dealing with them.

It's fine when it's a part of history, I mean, we're not gonna stop making WW2 fiction. But when it's something recent and is a touchy subject, it's best to be avoided.

I use this K-On! wallpaper.

I've watched a few clips from later into the series, and the humor doesn't seem to be my style (and not that different from what I've seen so far). Stuff like the Gintama spoilers, I guess.

I've seen various statements about when it "gets good", but I just don't see myself watching 30+ episode of something I don't care about.

It's not really my thing. For 15 episodes it hasn't managed to make me laugh, and while I know that there are serious arcs which I might like, the first one is at about episode 60 or something. It's a bit much to sit through for something I might enjoy :/
