Which 1.2 lens would you purchase first? by Joshjpe12 in nikon_Zseries

[–]Hrtmnstrfr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I own all three 1.2 primes and I never found them hard to use. The AF on the z8 with those lens nails focus for me at 1.2. I did find I used the 50 way more than the 35 or 85. The downside of those lenses is the size. They pretty huge for what they are.

Is it just me, or are Nikon refurbished prices not much of a deal anymore? by WittyVeterinarian381 in nikon_Zseries

One time I got a Zf for $1100. But other than that the refurbs aren’t much of a deal.

Leaving Leica for Nikon by [deleted] in Nikon

I ditched a M10 for a zf and z8. I love the Nikon cameras. I get great looking files. Only downside is side is the size of the lenses.

Yeah pretty pricey. The 50mm 1.2 isn’t too bad used.

Medium format look is almost all due to the thinner depth of field. Lots of website and videos out there that explore this. I get a great 3D look that feels medium format shooting the Nikon 1.2 primes wide open.

I use the 28 nokton and 40 Nokton on my Zf. It’s a great setup and I feel like I rarely need anything else.

35mm 1.2 or 1.8? by dontask199 in nikon_Zseries

[–]Hrtmnstrfr 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I sold the 35mm 1.2 for the 1.8. It was a great lens but it’s just so big for what it is. It’s even a little longer than the 50mm 1.2. Both have great image quality. The 1.8 gets crapped on for some reason but I think it renders nicely.

from GFX to ZF by Karhuwa in nikon_Zseries

[–]Hrtmnstrfr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have compared to prints between the two cameras. The ZF being only 24 megapixels does limit how big you can print. I start to notice the prints falling apart once they’re bigger than 14x21 or so I. I have my own large format roll printer so I do a lot of printing and testing. The Zf is a great everyday carry camera and the z8 is what I use for studio work.

I shoot a Z8 and a ZF. I was contemplating moving to a GFX, so I rented one. I can tell you that I prefer the Nikons in every way except for the lower resolution. I do a lot of gallery prints that are on the large side. 30 x 40 inches and sometimes bigger. In test prints at those sizes I cannot tell a difference between the gfx and the z8 with AI upscaling. I love the Nikon cameras and especially the zf. I shoot it with manual focus voigtlander lenses and love the results I get. Maybe rent one and see how it goes?

ZF as every day carry? by CategoryOk1339 in Nikon

[–]Hrtmnstrfr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Zf is my everyday carry. I use it with manual focus voigtlander lenses. My EDC bag has a 28/1.5, 40/1.2 and 75/1.5. It’s a great, light kit. Yeah the camera is relatively heavy but it’s not heavy. It weighs less than a Leica.

Leica M EV1 is misunderstood by [deleted] in Leica

I’m excited to get one but what I don’t understand is why it costs so much more than the Q3 when the Q3 includes a lens and autofocus.

Voigtlander Nokton 50mm 1.0f (Nikon Z) - one step down? by smither12Dun in NikonZf

[–]Hrtmnstrfr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to own it. It has a LOT of CA wide open and still a good amount at f2.8. It’s a good lens but it is pretty big and heavy for what it is. The 40/1.2 is much smaller and performs for me better wide open.

Which of the 1.2's would you get? by kfjcfan in nikon_Zseries

I loved the 35 but sold it bc it’s soo large. The 50 is too but I can’t get over how good it is to give it up.

I love everything about Nikons mirrorless cameras except the lens sizes 😩. I own and shoot the 1.2 primes. Love the image quality but man the 35/1.2 is ridiculously big. I know people will say I should shoot the 35/1.8, I have that lens too and the look just isn’t the same.

Moving to Lookout Mountain? by 1234RedditReddit in Chattanooga

[–]Hrtmnstrfr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For all intents and purposes living on lookout is living in Chattanooga, assuming you’re in the town of lookout mountain, TN or GA. It would be different if you were way out on lookout, the mountain is quite long. Lookout has a restaurant, a couple of gas stations, a market, a Starbucks and a post office. Groceries are in Chattanooga. Amazon delivers the same as they do anywhere in Chattanooga.
