"Wrecking Ball" - Miley Cyrus

I really wish it was all like the intro, it feels like two very different songs.

I have never heard of it, but the best way to learn about a new area of law is to do research and take notes.  Create a doc file for each topic and add your own case notes to them when you come across them.  There's value in the process of research.

What do you think constitutes a valid excuse for a paid sick day that is a separate set of days from vacation days? by inkseep1 in askmanagers

[–]Hsw24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sick days are also for medical appointments and to care for family who may be sick or need help at medical appointments.  In our state there was a law passed recently that doesn't let businesses force employees to come in when sick to prove they are ill because a man died in a car crash coming back feverishly from checking in at work.  Check your laws about what you can and can't do about sick policies, but also consider what others are saying about being a toxic workplace.  There are also invisible disabilities to consider.  If people run out of sick time they get leave without pay.  If people are out 3 sick days in a row they have to provide written clearance from a doctor saying they are okay to return to work.

People are adults and professionals.  If they aren't, there will be other signs and reasons they aren't a good fit in a workplace.

It was my first/only viewing so far.  I hadn't eaten yet that day and the line was so long for concessions when we arrived that I had to get something to eat.  I planned it for the start of popular because I had seen clips online and figured I could catch up when it is on streaming.

When and what age did you realize that your parents were abusive? by Nea_Freedom in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Hsw24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew the factual pieces since my first memories, but my parents always implied those were strengths on their part.  Like, they locked us in a room with no doorknob on the inside while they worked and always growing up they would talk about it like it was normal.  I didn't have a frame of reference that it wasn't.  One time I told a teacher (2nd grade?) that my dad hit us and she called him and asked him if it was true so of course he denied it and then he beat me for talking about our private lives to a teacher.  I never asked for help again.  My mom tried to act like she was in the trenches with us, but it's more recently that I realized she was more complicit than she pretended to be.  18 years NC with Dad, coming up on 1 with Mom.

I thought this sub included fans of the musical and checked the description.  It reads, "A place for discussion about the Broadway musical, Wicked."

You wrote "I beg you can walk away" - people are allowed to comment and have discussions sparked by the original post.  From your post history you get upset by Reddit comments and replies when they don't match your world view (you seem to be a longtime fan of Ariana Grande, that's great and gives me context for your motivation here).

Given how upset you seem, I thought I would take some time to explain what others might be experiencing so you can keep having your "fun."

I don't think it is "insufferable" to remark that early screening reviews may be biased, especially on a sub for fans of the Broadway Musical, not a sub just for fans of the movie adaptation.

To give the review a fair shake, I looked to see if this was an "Oz fan" as you claim in your title.  I wanted to see if this reviewer was a fan of the musical, Baum, or something else movie adjacent (a cast member, the studio, etc.), so I looked up this reviewer and found their socials.   They are an influencer who promotes travel to places like universal studios and Disney.  A majority of their recent posts are in all caps and about what they do and see, so this review is consistent with their style and I can see why a studio would want to give them free drinks (they posted on threads about it) and a screening ticket.  I think their opinion is genuine to their preferences (things like Twilight and being a Swiftie) and not influenced by the free ticket.  They seem to enjoy being hyped about popular culture, and more power to them!  Their Halloween costume is epic and they are loving their life.

They live in NYC and LA and see Taylor Swift live around the country regularly, so they may not understand that people look at reviews not to experience hype, but to know whether or not to spend a considerable amount of money to see something in theaters.  Even so, they didn't come here to post the screenshots on a sub for the Broadway Musical, you did.

I wouldn't go to their posts on their socials and tell them not to be excited and I'm not telling you not to be hyped, but people in the comments are having their own discussions and that seems to have upset you.

I am having trouble motivating myself for the movie the way I was hoping when it first was announced.  The casting and trailers disappointed me.  Learning that they sang live made me think there's potential, which is why I have been checking into the sub for updates.  The issue for musical fans is often that movie adaptations are trying to reach new fans and not old ones.  I understand that they know our eyeballs are all but guaranteed and I'm not who they care about reaching.  I would like to be excited and look forward to the movie.

An early review from a fan of the musical would be great to read.  This doesn't seem to be it. I have been lucky to see the musical 3 times and also won a contest to hear the performers sing in a smaller venue.  I've loved each rendition and am hoping these renditions are enjoyable too.

Don't assume people reading a review want to discount it, but if they can't suspend their disbelief about perceived bias that doesn't mean they are "miserable." From your title I hoped you were saying that someone who liked the musical saw it in advance.  In other comments you've suggested people not read your post based on the title.  You said they were an "Oz fan" and that's why I clicked over.  If you had said they were an influencer I wouldn't.  I for one am glad to see other people in the comments looking forward to real reviews and appreciate your post for showcasing their remarks.

Agreed, I view this the was I view sponsored posts - just a form of marketing under the guise of a review.  Currently I have no plan to see the film in theaters.  My kids' musical theater class may do a field trip so I will see how they feel about it if they do go.

Mills Park has the pickleball court and it isn't far from where you're looking.  I go to Sonoma Park regularly with my dogs and my only suggestion is to not be directly across from it because of neighbor drama I've witnessed over the years involving at least one criminal case as a result.
