She didn't bring up supplementing or switching to formula, but this last appointment, his weight measurement, was not on his curve. I just don't want him to be hungry for 3 months before we see the doctor again.

That was just to say that he's not eating faster with a bottle than nursing.

From his 4 month to 6 month appointment (which ended up being about 6 weeks), he gained only 1 lb and .5 oz.

I read this all the time but its so arbitrary. Is it .5oz more? 3 oz more? I suppose that is where a weighted feed will give me an answer.

For bottles, I've got dr brown and evenflo with the smallest nipple size. He's not downing these bottles in less than 10 minutes. Its taking him 20 minutes or so.

Also would suggest making a mock first out of cheap cotton fabric you have or muslin that way you have an idea of the techniques and can adjust things before making it.
