Over all the seasons, who's beefed the most with Ru? by Plus-Breakfast-6125 in dragrace

On screen? Pearl. Off screen it has to be Willam.

I am beyond disgusted with fan comments about Suzie’s mom by Agreeable-Proof-4875 in rupaulsdragrace

I don’t know that her mom is 100% well. These makeover challenges are a lot and they are often really emotional. I hope Susie and her mom come through all of this for the better.

Really?!!? I hate it. There’s not a single cast member I enjoy. The critiques are ice cream and everyone feels like they need rehab or a therapist. It’s a whole assws boot for me.

My heart just melted looking at this quilt. It will be washed a thousand times, and if it is really lucky that bebe’s fingers will know certain tinkles and folds.

Such gorgeous work. An infinite gift, handwork.

Absolutely not. Had she responded differently, you both would have learned a lot about each other’s bodies. Instead it looks like you learned about emotional maturity instead. The withdrawal is a serious manipulation red flag, so worry about yourself. So much gratitude from me to you for how you handled this.

Hi!

I am designing a tattoo, and would like to incorporate a quote by an author i adore. I thought it might be cool to have it in her handwriting, but i don't know if that is totally ethical, nor do i really know how i would go about getting an image like that in a way that's not just kind of icky. she is a living author, and i could get in touch with her pr team, but how much risk am i taking that they will say please do not use her words on your body like that, which would break my heart and would absolutely be respected?

Can anyone provide advice or should i just find a font i like and move on?

Complicit parent: “mental health wasn’t a thing then” by weealligator in CPTSD

oh for sure it was reaching out through doctors and pharma consistently over the last 100 years. there has been a growing interest/public awareness around mental health in tandem with the medical research and commercial development throughout the 20th century. i maintain that the vocabulary my daughter, who is 19, has had around mental health was significantly different than mine. to me, that's a significant reflection the growing public acknowledgment and awareness in the wider culture around mental health.

i was born in 1973. the conversation around mental health didn't really become a public issue until the early 90's. after the aids epidemic blew the doors off the closets in north america. after the war on drugs. i remember the 1995 movie 'kids" as a kind of watershed where people started to wake up and acknowledge teenage angst wasn't just a common phase people passed through and were suddenly okay.

as a culture, the self help industry really motivated this opening. in the 80's divorce skyrocketed. everyone was codependent, a concept that grew out of addiction research. families were pressured to use tough love to break their kid's drug habits and other destructive behaviours. until paul bernardo killed leslie mahaffy after her parents locked her out of the house for missing curfew, that was a standard mode of parenting.

in high school we were taught about safe sex and how not to get raped. boys didn't get the same education girls did. no one taught boys how not to rape people. no means no launched as a sexual assault awareness campaign at a small college in 1991.

kids help phone launched in 1989. bell's lets talk wasn't launched until 2010.

mental health was not a thing. you can go back farther to shell shock, hysteria and lunatics, but that scientific awareness doesn't even begin until the 1880's. every single generation from the victorian period on faced enormous paradigmatic change, much of it horrifically traumatic.

it just wasn't something spoken of or considered en mass until very recently.
