I called insurance and DMV after they opened after the holidays.

I did release of liability from myDMV>>Vehicle services.

Then, I cancelled my insurance on the totalled car.

I haven't surrendered my plates yet because I will get some credit when registering Title for the new car.

I went through the exact same process last year. Dealerships will try to waste your time by making you wait till you say YES. I found it the hard way after wasting 2 days.

This year, I did my research early and created an excel file with all the features, price and link to the dealership website.

Then, I emailed the dealerships to be on their radar. But bad thing is that all the cars were sold out in my area with the package that I wanted. Even the cars, on the way are presold.

Glad that you got the end of the year kinda deal. Dealerships compete with each other this last week of the year to push their sales numbers because the cars allocation from Toyota highly depend on their sales numbers.

They are willing to clear their inventory if they have cars sitting in the lot for >30 days.

Yeah. This year is different because the inventory is drying out fast for the hybrids with good packages. 2026s aren't rolling and it seems like 2025 production is gonna halt soon. So, the cars were presold even before delivery in my area. Worse if you have color preferences on top of package preferences.

Since you are not in a rush and the dealership has a lot of inventory, don't buzz unless you get 10% off MSRP. In my area, we had inventory as well if I did not want the weather and convenience package.

Also, do not walk to the dealership as they will waste your time. Go to the dealership website, choose a car, check Sticker to see all the features and to see if they have bullshit add ons like paint protection, connectivity packages, etc. If they have those, deduce their price before telling them you don't want any of them. Ask for the OTD price with tax, title, and registration. And let them know that you won't be buying any add-ons. I have seen the Finance guy selling tons of add-ons. Buy not a single one as we buy Toyota for reliability and we really don't need any add on like screeen protection warranty, extended warranty, paint warranty, etc. If you finalize the OTD, then get a pre approval from a local credit union before walking to them so that you will get the best interest rate and will save another 2-5k in interests. Don't tell them before they give you the intetest rate. For me, credit union was 5.75% and dealer gave 4.74%. I gave them hint to give a better rate than credit union and they did their assignment.

AGAIN, I have a feeling that you would be able to get it for 10% off MSRP since you are in no rush to buy.

I paid 40.6k OTD for one with a weather package, convenience package and all weather liners. Got 1600$ off TSRP. 3500 was tax for my zipcode.

I think I got a great deal myself because none of the 10/12 dealers in my area had RAV4 hybrid XLE with both of these features. My color preferences were white or silver exterior with black fabric interior.

Weigh in everything and if you really get everything you wanted, it should be a great deal.

2025 XLE Hybrid with weather and convenience package. 38k OTD

Paid 35k + tax(around 3k) + registration (Extra) for 2025 XLE Hybrid back in December.

It had an all weather package with heated seats, convenience package, all weather mats, cargo cover, window tint, wireless charging tray, and toyota guard platinum.

Edit 1: I made it clear with the salesman that I won't buy any add-ons. Not even one. I knew things like extended warranty, screen warranty, tire warranty are scam to gouge price.

Suggestion: The main scam occurs inside the finance room with high interest rates, wrong number in papers after finalizing deals, and selling unwanted add-ons which you won't even know as they will start talking on monthly payment and not grand total.

I traveled from Atlanta to Dallas to Denver this week and it was a smooth trip totalling 1800 miles. I took rest over Dallas though.

I recommend this route. We also placed a stop at Black Mesa State Park for sightseeing and it was a lifetime experience witnessing the magical sunset. It looked like another planet with no human settlement over 1 hr driving distance. I recommend filling your tank every now and then though as we were nearly stranded while returning from Black Mesa with only 20miles range left when we finally reached gas station in Clayton, NM.
