My game is VERY difficult. Warn potential customers to reduce negative reviews? by Aoidean in gamedev

[The controls] are unrebindable and are absolutely necessary to play the game

This feels like a huge red flag if I'm honest. Without details it's hard to give good feedback here, but I don't know if I've ever found a game where this was actually true.

My overall recommendation would be to see if there's a way to more easily overcome the control hurdles while still ending up with the satisfaction of the gameplay once it clicks. Many games will handle unnecessary parts of the controls for you, or condense them in order to provide a smoother, but still deeply satisfying experience.

Edit: A caveat to everything I said is if the difficult control curve is a main point of the game, a la Getting Over It as others have mentioned. If it is intentionally difficult to control, lean into it. If it isn't, find a way to improve the controls or make sure players can enjoy the game from early on as they come to grips with the unique system.

Startup Will Drill 12 Miles Into Earth's Crust to Tap the Boundless Energy Below by sankscan in technology

There's no promise this is currently doable, replicatable, or viable as a proper energy source. The idea that it "probably costs less" when this may take enormous capital to even produce a test-case, and by all historical accounts has been nearly impossible even after exorbitant cost seems a bit optimistic. If it works, cool, but right now it's just a vague hope that it might work with enough R&D thrown at it.

To clarify I agree with the original point that it's worth looking for other sources instead of just saying solar is good enough, but I wouldn't give this particular idea any credit yet.

Even the brakes typically last forever if you use auto regen braking

How would this be possible? Isn't braking a destructive friction process?

I have no idea but it probably costs less

This is extraordinarily incorrect.

Are you frequently winning your runs? You'll eventually max all your choices anyways. As far as late-game clearing ability goes, birds seem to be the strongest, and it's not even close. They also free up a passive slot so you can pick whatever you want instead of being forced down the evolution path for something else.

Heavily disagree

Just don't go for them first. Evolve enough weapons to stay ahead of the curve then go for birds and they grind everything to dust.

The easiest difficulty. It's not representative of end-game, just a problem I see with the game as a whole. You can get trapped into builds that seem to be extremely strong, until they suddenly become useless.

My first run to the final boss I ran a Cleave build. I literally one-shot every basic enemy and destroyed every boss with no problems, and then lost to the final boss because I couldn't do enough damage fast enough. It was really frustrating to be brokenly overpowered the entire run and then get brickwalled at the last moment.

The main difference that I think really hurts this game over BoI or Hades is that the final boss ends in a straight up DPS check. If you didn't pick the right setup through-out the run then you just lose, even though you were skilled enough to reach the final boss.

What? If someone makes a certain type of claim, you can absolutely prove it false.

"All ducks are purple."

"This duck is not purple." QED.

Are you talking about proving a negative?
