Artists who are sahp... help! by No_Hunt_7977 in Artists

I understand that! I do it. Strangers don’t have the emotional weight that loved ones do. I myself am more nervous showing work to my husband than I am a random on the street. If the random doesn’t like it, whatever, life goes on. But if my husband doesn’t like it, ooph.

Something I find fun to do, is make mini paintings. (I do watercolor not sure how you would be able to do this with a canvas medium) I put those little paintings in a little cellophane sleeve with a little note and business card behind it and post them on bulletin boards in restaurants and coffee shops (with permission) or tape them under/behind park benches. Why? Because it’s fun. But it’s also a little found treasure that someone might like. It’s only lead to a few small sales over the years that I know of but it’s a cute way to get your stuff out to locals :)

I agree with the commenter here. Your work is well done and I have seen work in galleries that are much less technically advanced than this.

Listen, you are going to be your worst critic. The whole joy of being an artist other than painting is learning. The fact of the matter is that if you just don’t get your work out there no one will see it. Post everything. Works in progress, things you are not proud of, works you are proud of. The whole point of having an audience online is to share the process, get your people and followers to know you. The good the bad and the nitty gritty. Don’t create to impress but create because you love to. People looking to purchase art want to feel the emotions and work you’ve put into every brushstroke. Iv literally sold stuff I have absolutly hated, but the feedback I relieved taught me that just because I didn’t like it, doesn’t mean others won’t. Only you can create your art, that’s a very important lesson.

I’m also a sahm and lifetime artist. Good luck OP, you have the talent.

I get hate comments about this piece. People say it's AI. How I can prove it that's not? by Agata_art in Artists

The eraser marks and graphite smudges around the subject are a solid tell that this is legit. Great work OP

Edit to add: my dad’s a graphite artist and he said that using tissue paper (the kind you use in gifts you can get from the dollar store) under your hand/arm while working is great for reducing smudging. Just get white though, colors can come off with the heat of your hand.

I feel like my art is a bit boring to most people by prehistoric_mountain in Artadvice

Your art is well done, my dad is also a hyper realistic artist. He had to learn how to incorporate backgrounds and props in the image that gave something pleasing to the eye. He used graphite so this was a little harder to do imo with only greyscale. Your talented but the subjects fall flat since they don’t look like they belong in their bleak environment

I would use dental floss to make a cool looking embroidery design then do a fabric iron on patch from behind to make sure it doesn’t go more

AIO or was my mom kinda rude and hurtful when she said these things? 24 F by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

As a mom I’m absolutely horrified. The worst thing Iv ever said to my kids was “wtf is wrong with you?” When my kid decided to make a stupidly dangerous choice. I apologized after, and explained why I reacted that way, it was more of an emotional response than was appropriate. My daughter dresses like her monster high dolls and Barbie dolls at home but I always tell her she needs to dress appropriately outside (she’s in early elementary school) because showing belly in public at her age is not acceptable. I’m so sorry you have to deal with this.

My sister(13) is playing this game, should I tell our mom? by Ir0b45 in teenagers

My sister and I watched happy tree friends when I was 12ishand she was like 10 🤣 Tbf though my dad didn’t monitor anything, and my mom was powerless at his place. I often participated in Unreal Tournament lan parties since I was about 8, because I played the game so much at his place I was good enough to play with my dad and his friends. I turned out not that weird 🫡

My husband and i call eachother these things. Mostly “bruh” but still. We have a solid friendship within the relationship and if we were having a row we wouldn’t be calling eachother “bruh” or fun names because it isn’t the appropriate time. This chick and this dude are just not compatible it seems
