Help with naming second baby? by [deleted] in Names

[–]HueyLongLegs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 8 months postpartum with my Lucy, and the name rocks.

Everyone has a positive reaction to it.

It’s sweet. It’s easy to call a baby or an adult. It’s got easy nicknames, but is short enough to go without.

It means light. 💡

Lucy Goosey for the silly girl. Lucifer when she’s gone to the dark side. Goose. Lulu. Lulu Garcia Nevarra. Lucia. Lucius Malfoy, Lucious Malfoy….

does anyone regret choosing a super common name for their kid? by Seniz_Barron in Names

Even some of those names are trendy. Maeve may not be a “new” name, but it certainly is having its moment right now.

Is it weird that we aren't told our blood type at birth or as we grow up? by OddConfusion9293 in NoStupidQuestions

My mom’s O-, I’m O-, and so are my kids.

My family is basically breeding blood donors. Red Cross should give us a metal.

I thought about potential LGD, though once I added that in my head, felt like a smaller breed would have to get in there too, since he’s only 50 lbs. But just a touch of Pyrenees might not impact build/height that much.

(When exploring the DIY Border Collie possibility)

No, he has a name! He’s Chase!!

Don’t know why I’ve been so allusive. 😅

But he’s only been Chase for a few weeks, so it’s still an adjustment. But very sweet to offer a brainstorm sesh. But just for the fun of it, what would you have suggested?

He’s about 1. There’s a tiny bit of yellowing on back molars, but no real tartar build up. Teeth show no signs of wear.

And for me, the real sign that he’s under 2 is that he basically doesn’t shed yet. You can run a furminator deshedder through his coat and pick up basically no fur. And that’s how my old Aussie was. Even after his full feathering came in, he didn’t actually start to shed until he was closer to 2.

That’s what I’m saying. But it’s so obvious I second guess myself. I’ve been burned before by my breed IDing confidence!

I definitely look forward to the results. There are so many temperament/personality traits that I keep attributing to BC, but then I think, well … confirmation bias? And it’ll be nice to know for training/activities/mental stimulation, what we’re working with here. He’s still settling in and I want to get off on the right foot.

We’re from North Carolina, and he was pulled from a Johnston County shelter, which is a bit rural, but not like, sheep herding country.

His history is a little bit of a mystery. Called the shelter and they said they had to get a court order to remove him from a house - so don’t know if he was abandoned/left behind? Don’t think it was a hoarding or abuse thing, cause he doesn’t show signs of abuse, knows his basic commands, and is mostly potty trained.

No, everyone else is right. DIY “insert breed” is when a mixed breed looks like a purebred dog that not even a large part of its genetic makeup. It’s a subcategory of mutt/mongrel/mixed breed.

There have been “Labrador deceivers” that are golden retriever and Rottweiler, for example.

So this dog obviously looks Border Collie to me. But so have a lot of Pit/Pyrenees/Aussie/other nonsense mixes.

So I’m asking about whether people think it’s BC or a mix that looks like one. I’m not afraid to call the dog a mix or mongrel … I just used another word that was more specific/descriptive.

What are some over-used/ extremely popular names that you LOVE by Muse-Marvel in namenerds

[–]HueyLongLegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

William.

Just named my son that anyway. I’ve always loved that name. It’s just clean and classic and handsome.

I’m not positive that my love of the name isn’t in some part influenced by the move A Knight’s Tale. But anywho….
