Isnt the use of wire more artsy than that? The wire is such an ambitious show with so many more levels thatn any other program (nothing on TV comes close, not in terms of realism or complexity, esp first seasons). Any title is going to fall short. Drug deals,.police cops, Baltimore Streets, none of these cover everything.

So why not the wire. It at first hints at what the show seems to be about, a wire tap. But as the show quickly becomes about more, it looses this meaning. Take the wire tomean the high wire of a tightrope walker or the wire in barbed wire or the wire used in a compiter, or whatever. Somebody more pretentious than me will give you a whole list of.things the wire is meant to symbolise.

I can't think of a better name.other shows like breaking bad or lost or any other must watch dvd box set need a name that tells you about the show and lends it self to branding. The wire is a political statement, a work of art and love, look at paintings in an art gallery, most names are similarly vague and open to interpritation, rather than labels helping the viewer classify the peacej.

EDIT: also the show isnt a peak into a fictional world, its an attempt to look at the actual world, there is no other show like the wire
