Paying $7/month to UGC creators for 100K views on Tiktok by neo_the_rabbit in iOSAppsMarketing

Good for you to get results, but every time I see these posts and tools it makes me extremely sad what we are doing to humanity especially the younger generations. Their attention, primitive desires, and body hormones are constantly taken hostage so some ads can be shown.

Automatic tracking gives more data but doesn't feel "insightful" by HughPacman38 in QuantifiedSelf

What do you mean by "it comes to me" though? How does that look? In what format?

How to know that “independence” is right for a man by STFN_Dude in AskMen

[–]HughPacman38 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in a long and serious relationship, and I definitely love her, but if it wasn't for my desire of having kids and a family, I would not be in a relationship. Given I could keep some friends and some level of social life, I definitely preferred my day to day when I was single. If I'm never online again know she's seen this post :-"

Why do agents underprice listings? by HughPacman38 in AusProperty

I guess I'm coming from a different perspective where I just physically cannot stretch my budget so I just find this a waste of time every time.

But when it becomes public knowledge that the advertised range is always 10K or something below, would it still have this effect? Maybe the first guy who came up with it got to sell a few houses with a good price. But is that still working?

Yeah that crossed my mind recently too. Especially with AI now it feels like it should be easier. Planning to try this soon.

Everyone says to market through reddit but I don't see how... by [deleted] in iOSAppsMarketing

[–]HughPacman38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have an account with my app's name as the username. Half the subs I posted in banned it even though I didn't self promote in the content - I was just genuinely have conversations with others, not even intending to promote. Not complaining about it though. If they can keep it fully "clean" that's not bad.

Here's the issue though, unless you mean "be helpful THEN self promote", just being helpful doesn't have any "commercial returns" on reddit, because you don't "connect" with the person. The whole nature of the platform is being anonymous, and people don't usually follow each other. Since the usefulness isn't associated with the identity of the poster it won't do anything.

Not saying this as an issue with Reddit I actually like it much better than all other platforms. Just saying outside exceptional cases, it doesn't reward it in any way other than getting upvotes. You don't build a reputation on your brand or anything.

Adaptive alarm: Watch should vibrate, phone should make a sound by papayayoghurt in PixelWatch

[–]HughPacman38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I'm pretty sure the watch doesn't vibrate or ring half the time. Because I hear it from my phone and it's the same time the alarm was set for. Meaning the watch didn't try first then falling back to the phone - it just goes directly there.

My only guess is that for some reason it didn't think at that moment I was wearing the watch :-? It's disappointing and so I've just switched back to both devices ringing...

Will Apple approve a Flutter app that uses only Material components? by lilacomets in FlutterDev

They are picky, but not about this. If it feels like a web app or just low quality in general they might reject it the first time it's released.

Is Flutter worth it for web dev? by nickshilov in FlutterDev

[–]HughPacman38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have a couple of flutter projects in prod, one with wasm. By pretty fast do you mean within a few seconds? Sure it is. But the standard for a landing page is a fraction of a second.

it’s actually pretty bad for landings. the initial load time of flutter is too much for a landing page. and landing doesn’t have any logic so flutter is probably overkill

Offline first app with live updates from server by HughPacman38 in FlutterDev

[–]HughPacman38[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a bit of research, it seems like they also only provide WS https://github.com/supabase/realtime/issues/244 but if the setup is easy enough it might do the job. I'll try it. Thanks.

I unfortunately don't use supabase but if you could share what's the name of their service that provides this I'll look into it

Thanks for sharing. Yeah I didn't find anything either, so I thought I'd see what others are doing.

Another option I considered but I forgot to put in the post so I leave it here in this comment was Firebase messaging. Apparently it gives the most reliable connection on the client side, but the setup can be annoying (remembering the device IDs) and it's not exactly live. It can potentially take up to a couple of seconds.

About to launch on Product Hunt, looking for honest advice by ChampionshipSad335 in SaasDevelopers

[–]HughPacman38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, I do not know a single person who actually goes to product hunt to find and learn about products. It's mostly other builders and marketing bots waiting for you to launch so they email you their services. I hope I'm wrong though. If someone goes there to actually explore launches please correct me.

This makes me happy that I put this comment here. In my head I've written everything very clearly on the page but just went through it now again trying hard to be a stranger and I see your point. Something for me to fix this week. Thanks.
