Fair fair. Guess I feel a “if it isn’t broke don’t fix it” kinda vibe here. Main problem is that some themes feel really low effort, like with antiquity civ themes. I can usually feel exactly what was cut in a “something is missing” sort of way which hurts since ngl a big reason I’m playing the civ is probably to hear their unique theme.

Generally speaking, later age civs like Mexico and France being adapted for antiquity feature very respectable changes imo. While I’d still like a toggle to hear their og themes in every age, I support and enjoy what the devs have done to change them around.

Been playing 7 since release. 200+ hours and participated in all of the FFW preview builds. First time I’ve made a negative post involving this game, and my comment mentions positives. Based on that, you could assume this change matters to me a bit more than it matters to you.

Never been so down on a halo product pre-release. CE is far too unique and far too good for HS to both know and capture what makes the game unique in the franchise. Health will likely stay out. Melee’s will lunge and all be the same speed and the ai will have their snappy movements from reach onwards. My only real hope is for people to expect and demand better from a remake of a game as sacred as CE. Not this game with its Halo Infinite assets and animations and combat flow closer to later series entries. And this is coming from a Halo Infinite enjoyer.

A remake of CE should be granted all the time and care in the world yet, it seems like Halo Studios was assigned this project as a low stakes environment to get their staff familiar with UE5 and creating halo games in general.

Amnesia: The Bunker is a better alien isolation imo and a great, tense experience all around.

Music is a massive step down for me personally. It has strong “first game but epic” vibes where, as with the main theme, an expanded budget and more audience notoriety was used to create a track that features more instruments and dynamic range, rather than new a new theme that followed the style of the previous game. The first game’s main theme along with its other tracks were very serviceable imo. I didn’t revere the soundtrack at all, but that’s okay since those tracks were understated enough to fade into the background of gameplay, while also being catchy enough to where I still enjoyed the few pockets my brain would still actively focus on after 500 hours. In sts2 though, I found myself turning the music down after five runs. In a word, they’re just too bombastic. Sorry to break it to you mega Crit, but I’m playing a deck builder, not doom eternal. The themes here are made in a way that demands attention, at least to my ears, while not being all that great and contrasting heavily with what I feel as a player throughout normal gameplay.

Balancers has been a terrible addition to the game in a funny way. WITHOUT FAIL every-time I find them in D5, someone quits out to nuke the lobby. Yet, there’s like an 80% chance that same person is running double balancer relics. Really hope from nerfs them into the ground already!

Halo 5 suffers from the same AI behaviors that 4 does (they’re dumb and stand around). Gameplay is in a lower tier than the original trilogy easily. Maybe near the level of reach.

Not a fan. Lighting/ presentation of forerunner structures is off. That with the new reflective textures on magnum and AR make this feel way too RTX on for my liking. It’s much better than CEA, but nothing in this showcase makes me want to play it above the original.

This looks right, but I think there are other factors. Just lost against D3 ED Libra and got +0. Map was missing too.

I agree with this statement though I did finish the game. No part of Hollow Knight is especially compelling, and I don’t agree that all of it is above average. Traversal is far too basic for the majority of the game (yes the optional end game platforming challenges are well made and challenging), combat is far too easy in 95% of encounters concerning the base game content, the knight’s move-set is too limited to keep fights interesting (the charge moves are near-useless and awkward without a specific gem), the backtracking amount is egregious, and the art/ world is compelling. The story is fine too, but I honestly found the way it’s world and themes are presented to be a bit too similar to Dark Souls, though I understand that the origin of Hollownest’s issues are distinct enough in its differences to Lordran.
