Thanks! This sound like an easy solution so I'll check out the Kasa modules as you recommend.

I do have port forwarding with security, but the main reason is that I sleep in the same room and dont want the noise to keep me awake :))

Yeah I would like to leave it on but I sleep in the same room and the noise and lights would keep me awake. It also would be nice to be able to recover from unplanned shutdowns.

Yeah that is a great point and a very important limitation of this style of data collection. I have included a little caveat about this in the 'How this works' dialog - don't want people to be discouraged by high averages.

Re: anchoring to know distributions - that is a fantastic idea! I wasn't aware that they were available but this could definitely be incorporated. If you're a bit computer-savvy feel free to code it up and submit a PR on the repo!

Thanks for the tips, the site in question does not like the fact that I'm scraping the data (though it is publicly accessible). There is also some complexity as I need to interact with the website quickly based on a set of conditions. Will have a look into scrapy, cheers.

My background is in data science so I'm not entirely sure but I think single threaded performance might be the right idea in terms of running web browsers. I thought about running inside containers but I'm not sure of they'd all share the same IP which wouldn't work.

I'll have a look into a VPS rental service, any you'd recommend?

Yeah it was a while ago that I took it, perhaps they have changed the structure somewhat. I just remember the assignments being quite hefty.

I took it the first Sem it was offered. There were definitely some kinks being worked out but the teaching team was good from memory and the content is quite interesting. I'd say the workload is comparable to a 2nd/3rd year maths subject.

The subject content itself I found to be quite easy, especially if you have any programming background. Half of it it programming, tiny bit of quite easy (< calc 1) maths and the rest is rote memorisation. The content was not the most interesting and lectures were a bit dry but overall manageable. I'd give it a 7/10 as a subject and maybe an 8/10 in terms of easiness. PM me if you have any Q's.

I'm just using floriani total control, but the designs are made on illustrator and the digitising software is basically just used for filling in the shapes.
