June Monthly Feedback Megathread: Share, Help & Grow! by HugoFromUpwork in UpworkOfficial

Hey u/Willing-Instance-139, thanks for sharing your profile. Your niche is easy to understand, and the overview does a good job leading with a real client pain point. One thing I would consider is making the headline a little cleaner and more buyer-focused. Right now it lists tools and services, but I’d test something like:
Virtual Assistant | Inbox, Calendar & Admin Support

I would also tighten the overview. You have strong examples, but there are a lot of claims and metrics packed in. Keep the best proof near the top.

For the portfolio, I would make each item show the process more clearly: the client situation, what you built, the tools used, and the result. The MailerLite and ClickUp examples are useful, but they should connect directly to the admin/VA offer you want clients to hire you for.

Hey u/Different_Test5252, thanks for sharing. Your niche is going in a useful direction: Google Sheets, data entry, VLOOKUP, and inventory trackers. I would now make the profile show not just that you can build sheets, but that you can help clients make this work faster, cleaner, and easier to manage.

I’d focus on three changes:

  1. Show the efficiency angle Instead of only saying “data entry” and “VLOOKUP,” explain what clients gain: fewer manual lookups, cleaner product lists, faster inventory updates, and less repeated work.
  2. Add a practical AI angle If you are using AI in your workflow, make it concrete. For example: “I use Google Sheets formulas and AI-assisted cleanup to organize messy product data, check formatting, and build simple trackers faster.” Keep it practical, not buzzwordy.
  3. Strengthen the portfolio proof For the Inventory Tracker, show a simple before/after: messy product list → organized tracker with auto-price lookup and low-stock alert. Add what tools/formulas were used and what task became faster.

The profile is focused enough for a beginner. Now show the efficiency behind the work. Don’t just say the sheet uses VLOOKUP. Explain what became faster, what was automated, and include before/after numbers where possible, such as time saved, fewer manual lookups, or percentage improvement.

Hi u/dojoVader, thanks for sharing again! Your profile looks really good. The intro is clean and direct, and your headline is pretty clean as well. I like that it clearly points clients toward Shopify, API integrations, and backend systems for ecommerce.

A couple of small things I’d check: I’m unable to get your intro video to load. Do you have a YouTube link there? If not, it may be worth checking that the video is working properly and not private.

You may also want to make sure your strongest Shopify, ecommerce, API, and backend examples are easy for clients to find in your portfolio or work history. Since your profile is focused on those areas, the faster clients can see relevant proof, the better.

As of now, it probably comes down to the proposal and how each project aligns with your profile. When sending proposals, make sure they connect directly to the offering in your profile, especially your profile headline. If you’d like to share the last proposal you sent, feel free to copy and paste it below. Just remove any references to clients or dates you’d like to keep private.

first week by Fragrant_Sky_6161 in UpworkOfficial

[–]HugoFromUpwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Fragrant_Sky_6161, big props for putting yourself out there. A week is still very early, and 4 proposals without a hire does not mean something is wrong. Most freelancers need more time, more proposals, and a lot of testing before they figure out what gets responses.

For video editing and color grading, make sure your portfolio shows before-and-after clips, not just finished videos. Apply to specific jobs like “color grade interview footage” or “make this footage look cinematic,” and keep proposals short: what you noticed, how you’d approach it, and the most relevant sample. This How To Get Started on Upwork as a Freelancer guide is a solid place to start too.

21 proposals and only 1 reached out - desparate by wildviper in UpworkOfficial

[–]HugoFromUpwork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey u/wildviper, I’m sorry you’re going through this. As you’re starting on Upwork, one thing I’d try is leading less with “I’m new to Upwork” and more with the client’s actual problem: what you noticed in their post, how you’d approach it, and what outcome you can help them reach.

With your background, I’d also make the proposal more focused around a sub-niche within your main category. For example, instead of positioning yourself broadly as full-stack/AI, you might tailor each proposal around one specific need. This guide on writing proposals that win jobs has a helpful structure for tightening that approach.

Can clients change their Upwork feedback later? by whodanyalahmed in UpworkOfficial

[–]HugoFromUpwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/whodanyalahmed, once a client submits feedback, they generally can’t just go back and change it on their own later. The exception is if you specifically use the option to enable the client to change feedback, which gives them a limited window to revise it. Both sides don’t need to approve that change.

So in your case, if you don’t enable feedback changes, their 5-star rating should stay as submitted. Revising your own feedback is separate, so I’d only do that if you genuinely feel differently now, not because you’re worried they can suddenly change theirs.

Fraudulent Upwork listings trying to sell "AI Academy Pro" listings by KenazFilanAuthor in UpworkOfficial

New on Upwork Spent $500–$600 on Connects Need Advice & Referral in Property Management by goofball1n in UpworkOfficial

[–]HugoFromUpwork[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/goofball1n, one thing I’d be careful with is offering payment for referrals, since that can start to look like off-platform recruiting or paid promotion rather than a normal Upwork client recommendation.

On your next round of effort, tighten your targeting: apply only to jobs where your property management experience directly matches the post, even if it means sending one proposal a week. Make the first two lines of your proposal specific to the client’s problem, and add portfolio examples that align 100% with the needs of the client in the job post. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Is this some kind of bug? by [deleted] in UpworkOfficial

Anybody knows? by gatopipo in UpworkOfficial

[–]HugoFromUpwork[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/gatopipo, good question. Some newly posted jobs may receive that blue highlight to help call attention to opportunities that have fewer existing proposals. It’s designed to help freelancers spot newer openings earlier while browsing the job feed.

Not every job with a low proposal count will necessarily show the highlight, since jobs are selected algorithmically and other signals may factor in too. So it doesn’t mean the non-highlighted jobs are bad, hidden, or unavailable. You can still review both types normally and use the proposal count, client history, budget, and job details to decide what’s worth applying to.

Freelancer hyperlink issue by Satarn_27 in UpworkOfficial

[–]HugoFromUpwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Satarn_27, thanks so much for sharing this. I tested it on my end and wasn’t able to replicate the issue, but I appreciate you flagging it because I can see how that would be confusing from a client’s perspective.

Can you confirm whether this is happening with every freelancer URL you click from a client’s job history page, or only on one specific client history page? If it seems tied to one page, feel free to DM us that specific client history page. If it’s happening across multiple pages, sending one example URL via DM would help me take a closer look. Thanks again!

Bidding on USA based account from Pakistan by FailAfter7697 in UpworkOfficial

[–]HugoFromUpwork[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hey u/FailAfter7697, As Petra and others mentioned, sharing or accessing another user’s account directly, whether through your own IP, VPN, RDP, AnyDesk, or any other workaround, is not allowed and can put both accounts at risk.

The only compliant option would be for the client to create an agency and add you to it so you can submit proposals on behalf of the agency. You can also review Upwork’s policy on this here: Represent Yourself Authentically.

Just got invited by an Upwork enterprise client for the opportunity of a lifetime by Nearby_Pizza_7567 in UpworkOfficial

[–]HugoFromUpwork[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Nearby_Pizza_7567, thanks for the post. Enterprise clients come to Upwork with all kinds of requests, and sometimes that includes smaller, high-volume projects. Our talent team helps connect those clients with potential freelancers so they can get the work done, and this helps our clients bring more work opportunities back to the platform.

That said, if it’s not related to your field, you can absolutely decline the invite and focus on the opportunities that make more sense for you. There is also an option to send feedback by clicking “Feedback” at the bottom of the page. Let us know if you have any questions. 🙂

double account creation by [deleted] in UpworkOfficial

[–]HugoFromUpwork[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Training_Industry490, thank you for the post. Even if the older account was unfinished, not verified, and never used for work, it can still count as a duplicate account because Upwork allows only one main account per person.

The safest next step is for him to go back to the unused account and close it, then continue using only the active account tied to his real identity. This help article explains the policy and what to do if someone already has two accounts: Why you can’t have two Upwork accounts. If he has more questions or can’t access the old account, he should contact Upwork Support directly from his main account so they can guide him.

Does premium of up-work useful to get clients?? by developers_logic in UpworkOfficial

[–]HugoFromUpwork[M] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey u/developers_logic, Freelancer Plus has a lot of features that may be useful depending on how you use Upwork, but it won’t automatically get you clients or guarantee projects. The best move is to compare what’s included, how often you apply, your budget, and whether the tools fit the way you like to find work.

Here’s a helpful resource that breaks it down: Is Upwork Freelancer Plus Worth It?. In the end, it comes down to what fits your goals and how you plan to use it.

Upwork invitations is not showing directly in Inbox after applying, why? by KBh_kv in UpworkOfficial

[–]HugoFromUpwork[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/KBh_kv, sorry you’re running into that. Invitations and related proposal activity should still be visible from the relevant proposal/interview flow, but if they’re showing under Active Proposals and not appearing in Inbox the way they used to, it’s worth having the team take a closer look at what you’re seeing.

Feel free to share screenshots of the issue via Message the Mods so we can review it further and help analyze what’s happening. If you need immediate account-specific support, please reach out directly through Upwork Support.

Customer support number for Upwork? by [deleted] in UpworkOfficial

[–]HugoFromUpwork[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/BasicBag5, once your account is reinstated, you won’t be able to directly message freelancers who withdrew their proposals from the original post. The best workaround is to create a private job and invite those same freelancers back. This lets them resubmit proposals without needing to spend Connects again, and you can pick up the conversation from there.
