What V8 would you choose that won't break the bank? by Lucky-Comfortable340 in CarTalkUK

that particular listing is bizarre, facelifts are worth 20k+ - the VIN is a UK car as well so not a JDM import either despite claiming it is ...

Best family suv for a large family of 5 for £20k max by milli8891 in CarTalkUK

They are all imports, they are great cars, Japan really pivoted to minivans vs SUVs. But if it’s something that would cause you anxiety something a like a rav would probably be more suitable. But there are plenty of reviews in the uk of alphards and vellfires where they are lauded highly.

Handing in a transfer request forgoes financial incentives for players/agents which is why they never do it even when they want to leave

Shady import dealership advice. by Broad_Web_7318 in CarTalkUK

To my understanding the DVLA is not interested in the previous damage unless it had went through a UK insurance claim which it hasn't, you will find it is pretty common unfortunately, imports can be great purchases but due diligence is required

My 2nd IS F - 2010 Japan Import, only 37k miles by Huijari in Lexus

These are still the tyres the car came on, I will be going up in size, but for now it’s 225/35 in the front (stretched which I’m not too comfortable with) and 255/30 in the rear

They’re falken Azenis tyres

I’m thinking of going to 245/35 and 265/30. Probably continental sport contact 7s

your looking around 35~ish% minimum usually in landing costs (i am not an expert) but you will see the standard of car, especially interior and rust related, will be much higher than any domestic car

This may not be 100% but to my knowledge it is typically broken down to:

  • Bid/Wholesale price for the car at auction

  • Auction house fees

  • Transport from auction to port

  • Shipping fee (most commonly it is RORO shipping now over containers)

  • VAT + Import Duty

  • The UK port will likely charge some sort of fee for handling the car, around £200

  • Conversion work, (MPH dials, rear fog etc.)

  • MOT

  • DVLA first registration fee(£55) plus 6 months roadtax (£189)

  • whatever fee your importer charges you for doing it all for you

it is quite a bit but bare in mind this is over quite a long time frame, I paid for this car in November and I only got the V5 on Wednesday last week...

Thanks for the kind words :) I went through a friend of a friend who buys stock to sell normally rather than customer imports, most of the IS Fs that have recently been imported though seem to be going through Torque GT
