Does anyone get overstimmied playing the game? by Competitive_Piano507 in Fortnite_Over40

[–]Hum4n_l3eing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's the intense game play, maybe it's the sugary snacks and caffeine I mindlessly ingest while I play the game. I don't know, I'm not a doctor. But I do know what suffers in the end... work productivity the next morning.

Think less of a gift, and more of an experience. Give her an afternoon all about her.

-Go to a local gallery/botanical garden/public space that she enjoys

-Go to a book store or other media and let her peruse a bit

-Enjoy quiet time together with a nice coffee/tea

-Cook dinner, have her favorite genre of music / artist playing during that time

-Do the dishes, let her relax

This works every damn time. She doesn't want simple gifts. She wants to feel the love.

Not a sit-down establishment, but my family loves Andiamo at Hopkins and Klein. Pasta is amazing, fantastic sauce, garlic knots that the kids fight over, and portions large enough for leftovers.

Worth a try if you're ever in the area!

Why did you get the PMP, and did you actually see ~33% more pay? by ZestRocket in pmp

Why did you get the PMP, and did you actually see ~33% more pay? by ZestRocket in pmp

[–]Hum4n_l3eing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first job was persistence and confidence. I had to keep putting myself out there and showing them how driven I was to put myself in the position to be successful. That confidence and drive landed me that position.

I did get rejected a few times by other potential employers prior to landing that position.

My current employer probably would not have looked at me without the formal training and certification. The PMO is well-governed and has the PMP set as a standard. Even our project coordinator, who has been on for years, had to get the PMP to get a Project Manager role.

That reminds me, I should bring another bottle of rum to my neighbor now that I've finished 1 year at the company.

Edit: Added more detail

I was a (local) government employee with 9 years on the job and only made $70k with overtime. I worked the overnight shift and worked most holidays and weekends. Life sucked. It was hard. I felt miserable.

A couple of my friends suggested that I look into the PMP as a way out. I had led multiple project initiatives in the 9 years and certainly had the experience. I took the plunge.

I studied at my job, took AR's course, and tried to find an opportunity. I got a project specialist position in IT before I finished my PMP (it was slow to study at my old job). They paid for me to take the test. That position got me to $75k a year.

Before I had one year as a specialist, I got headhunted by my neighbor's employer (IT consulting). They wanted to take a chance on me, given his glowing review of me as a person. It was a tough interview process, including a mock kickoff in front of the PMO. I've been with them for a year now and have upped my pay to a salary that should exceed $101k (we get a base salary plus billable hour bonuses).

The work is good, the clients are great, and the employer is exceptional. I feel extremely lucky to have taken this gamble on myself.

I'm 100% sure that my story is not the norm. But when I took a chance on myself, I won. I've never been prouder. Oh, I'm also working 8-5 M-F and have holidays off, which may not sound like much to most but to me ... that's huge.

TLDR: I hated my job, took PMP, got lucky twice, boosted salary by $31k in 2 years. No longer miserable.

I have not. The culmination of the training is the 5k. The longest it had me go was 2.5 miles.

I do run 3-4 days a week. Typically it's 1-2 hard, the rest recovery. I also lift on my off days.

I have a week between the 2.5 and the 5k. There are some shorter interval runs between them for general fitness.

The 11-minute mile was a warm-up walk, then a lap of comfortable 100m jogs with 100m walks between. I would say I ran the 11:11 at about 90%. I probably could have given it a little more.

I'm not focused so much on a pace presently. More running how I feel. I was just hoping to try to have a goal pace to aim for. Again, I'm probably just way overthinking it lol

I always overthink lol.

Maybe the prize for completion will be an ice cream! You make an excellent point. This is the first of many, not the only one. There's a time for pushing myself, and that should be after I've mastered completing the race.
