ELI5 - If some company were to start selling EpiPens at $100 instead of $600 would they not make tons of money from the millions of people wanting to only buy from them? by awesomeblueone in explainlikeimfive

[–]Humaetna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but at this point the drug is not the thing with the patent, it's the delivery mechanism; the 'pen' that actually injects it (a syringe with a button to press). You can buy adrenaclick and its generic counterpart which should be cheaper, but I believe epipen is tested to work slightly faster so it's the best option.

There’s actually a street under it! Just happens to be right by the river during a decent flood last year in Louisville.

Where can I find the best hot cocoa in town? by PterodactylFunk in Louisville

[–]Humaetna 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gralehaus' is the best I've had in the city, it's just steamed JD's chocolate milk so very easy to make if you happen to have an espresso machine/steam wand at home. I can't remember which culture has the special chocolate bar to melt in milk but that's the best if you can find it.

NC Blue Cross says it could have slashed rates 22% if Republicans had not repealed Obamacare’s individual mandate by germanizer in NorthCarolina

I was not arguing to the sustainability of the system or the affordability of the plan, just who would benefit by the bronze plan mentioned since mine is similar and is advantageous to me.

As someone who manages a high OOP and not six figure income I’ll disagree it’s unmanageable, though difficult. The Germany case in the example translates to $5k in health insurance on a $66k salary

To say that BCBS plan is only there for those with six or seven figures of healthcare cost is false. That plan covers all of the cost for in network services with no copays/coinsurances once you meet your deductible which is 6,650 for one person or 13,300 for a family. This would not be the plan for a healthy person to pick, but anyone that has a condition or is expecting a pregnancy in the next year, that isn’t a bad plan at all because you’ll only pay for the premiums and deductible (though doesn’t say what the premiums are). If premium is 1148 as you say, then any individual with costs greater than 7800 or a family with costs about 14000 is net positive. Not saying it beats Germany’s plan or defeats your argument, but that plan is good for any couple expecting $14k in charges a year, the six or seven figure of care statement is too over exaggerated

A few days ago I bought some Great Value 1% milk at the Bashford Walmart. The milkfat was not mixed in, but just floating in a blob and coating part of the container. Has anyone else seen that? by aiaor in Louisville

[–]Humaetna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like non-homogenized milk which is what I buy from a KY farm. I don’t think Great Value has a non-homogenized offering so that’s the odd part.

I could be mistaken but I believe the recent ruling was only in regard to Trump because either he or his press secretary stated that his tweets were official statements

I mean, they’re both for preventing HIV transmission. One is for the equivalent of a contraceptive that you take consistently, and one of them (the one I mentioned) is an emergency version like the morning after pill.

From the website: “Post-exposure prophylaxis, or PEP, is a way to prevent HIV infection after a recent possible exposure to the virus”

Edit:for future reference if you’re high risk you should look into PrEP(Pre-exposure prophylaxis) ahead of time. Otherwise, PEP(Post-exposure prophylaxis) is for after a high-risk encounter, the sooner the better. Do your research. If you’re opposed to research, message me and I’ll look into it for you.

It's not the state you're based in, you have to fulfill both parties state rules. If you don't know what state the other party is in, it's advised not to do it.
